His "pivotal drive system" is no different than any of the surface drives that can be trimmed, already on the market. They have been sold for at least 50 years.

Can you quantify with some numbers how much more efficient you estimate your drive would be than 1.) a mercruiser bravo sterndrive or 2.) a current 4-stroke outboard on an example boat such as a boston whaler 24 center console or other common boat for 30 mph running.

Why would I want do do that? With all the research already available it would be a waste of time. I think that many people have not woken up to the fact that you do not need to spend years studing any subject or seeking Professional advice and being indoctrinated into a "skill" to get good reliable information, infact you would be much better off and achieve better results getting away from convention and tradition.

No one would believe my info and it would be just more wasted time in dispute. All of those manufactures would dispute the figures and facts of their competors. I would still respect the opinions of forum members I am capable of sorting the wheat from the chaff.

I'll get away from convention and tradition and install square wheels on my car. The round ones are just a conspiracy from big automakers.

You may be capable of sorting the wheat from the chaff, but I and many others who might buy your drive need some review data. Boating magazines provide test data that's simplified for the weekend buyer and yet still useful - a table or simple graph of rpm, gph, speed, and sometimes other useful data such as noise level measurement of one outboard compared with another on the same boat. That is what I want to see when I consider a big purchase. It doesn't matter if other manufacturers dispute your data as long as it's legitimate. It might be great publicity if you published a careful comparison and mercury or volvo disputed it, provided you could provide a test unit to an independent reviewer when challenged and the numbers on the verification test would substantiate what you published.

There are so many configurations to choose from..and custom possibilities
Do you think it would be prudent to invest time and money in such a fickle market? As I say the choice someone would make on their needs the relative performance expectations are already available.

Which boat propulsion system is the most efficient for all purpose boating?

What most efficient purpose boating means is to compare each propulsion system, the cost to purchase, reliability, fuel, loss of HP from motor to prop, being able to operate in shallow water or infested weed areas, driven onto beach, simplicity “direct drive with no gearbox”, DIY maintained and so on.
That’s some ideas to compare with each propulsions system.

So, if those are the parameters for efficiency, all we are asking is for them to be posted. Why keep them secret?

Which parameters are considered to calculate efficiency? What you posted are things that conflict with each other. For example, an fuel inefficient engine can be bought for less money than a modern, well built fuel efficient one. A cost to purchase efficiency, which means a cheaply built boat and gear, is in direct contradiction with maintenance efficiency.

Hey the most important thing some are overlooking, you can have a cheeeep home DIY or a Very sophisticated hot shot drive to make your mates envious. We could employ a consultant and a design department.
But I won`t pay the bills. OK lets forget about efficiency and I hope no one tells me Pivotal Drive will not be efficient.

Great idea, do you have a sketch? Had a plan to pivot the whole propulsion installation (engine, flywheelhousing with thrust bearing, extension tube, shaft and propeller), vertically and horizontally, pivoting point in the transom
