I have not seen any pics of the actual engine and drive. Only the outside view of the cover. I know its not the first time it has been discussed. But I would love to get a better look at it.

If you google you can find many pictures like the link below or look at Toms boat design picture gallery instead of beating around the bush.

    Another great idea,Tom!

I love your drive system, but having to cut up and modify the hull of an old GRP boat hull which will have soaked up decades of moisture is beyond my laminating skill set; I'm more of a amateur steel fabricator!

my project idea was based on buying an old twin screw 12mtr or less s/d motorboat with twin 250hp diesels from the last century, the 90's:D; there is zero demand for gass guzzlers like these, you can nearly take them away free!

    So......

Using the Japanese 'UV joint in the prop shaft idea ' ....

.....and Tom's idea of an old outboard hung on the transom to provide the 'up and down' tilt mechanism .......

......to locate and lift the extended prop shafts that stick out past the end of the transom........

.....with the prop shaft located into the old OB bottom unit without the bevel gears, using the trust bearing already in the bottom unit (machine a suitable through hole like in Tom's photo)'......

A rudder could be bolted to the OB leg.

A neat ready made solution, easier than fabricating a lifting swim platform!

do you really think that is better than a stern drive. I think you have been scared off stern drives without good reason. A well maintained stern drive is a very reliable unit. I have owned a few volvo's and found them to be just about bullet proof.

Don't get me wrong. I like doing stuff on the cheap and making things as well. But when you start using outboard legs you would do better using an old volvo leg imo.

Or maybe a full tunnel drive with a pair of small bilge keels for tracking.

I am honored that you devote so much time to me. Thank you. I am not a designer. I am a mechanic (ex) who repairs and modifys boats for a hobby. My current boat is number 30 something. Now back to rustys thread. I already told you about hijacking other peoples threads for your self promotion.:p

    Other way round mate
Keep to the thread and stop stabbing in the dark with childish gibberish.
So you have never designed a thing in your life or no idea about patent ? and then you abuse me about my inventions and patents.
I am designing a pivotal drive system for some years now and this post is of great interest and then you butt in and abuse me also you have trolled me on several times in the past.

As I said, stop trolling me, you have been trolling me for a long time now.
This is boat design web site and I design and build boats including inventing several types of boat which my next build is a pivotal drive system for the Myark water craft, and with the my tool inventions I never mention them on boat design, although they are built for the marine conditions also to be multi function so no large tool box aboard, I mentioned my tool idea the other day to help another inventor on boat design as well as let people know about www.kickstarter.com to help them with any ideas that need finance.
Boat design forum has no marketing value as Tom would tell you, also I have nothing to sell and turn away boat builds including investment, also hundreds of people wanting to purchase my tool ideas.
You portray narcissistic personality disorder and did expect your trolling email to me after you thanked me for my kind words.

    japanese liftable propeller shaft

Gentle men please it`s good to have differences of opinion and enthuseastic DIY debate.
I am sure whitepointer23 can see the options to build the configerations in my posts and understand that my efforts are ongoing and the potential for more Patentable aspects are still there to be had.

As I think the last model is a good model for boats under 20 or so feet and to build a saleable slide in standard model to fit most boats is practical. A custom built transmission with variable ratios would be great. There are lots of potential that only a big player like the one I have a " General Agreement of Understanding" with could possible put on the market.

I do not understand what you mean by
"Old autos had pivotal, (liftable) propeller shafts"
I have seen a car engine mounted on the middle deck of a large sailing cat that manually lowered the shaft down into water when wanting prop used.
One idea was to have an attachment that allows the back drive shaft to easily remove from the diff and to lower into another drive shaft that propels the pivotal drive system.
