    Multi 23

    I'm curious what the angle of heel of the boat is when the main hull is just flying? Thanks!

    @Doug Lord
    This question depends on some parameters, such as the total weight of the boat (including the weight of the crew which is a variable) and therefore the submerged volume in the water of downwind float...
    In theory (flat water condition), if float is submerged about half its volume, we could get an approximate inclinaison angle of 20°.

    The results for the Multi23 under Texel/OMR that I've seen have been pretty underwhelming. It's just not a very fast boat (in series 1 form anyway) under most conditions which was a surprise to most people including me. It tends to be mid to low in the field on OMR results and line honors. Here are some results from the Lock Crowther Memorial Regatta in 2012 and 2013 the scratch results are there too on the RMYC website http://www.royalmotor.com.au/multihulls/new-results.html

    The OMR spreadsheet is on the MYCQ website Johan Betrom's Multi23 rates at .955

    Thanks for that.
    they do seem fast when reaching or racing on very calm water but other than that....
    i have a buddy in SAfrica that did the dagger board mod and took some rocker out of it and he said its a new boat

    That's a similar conclusion we came to that the centerboard slot is dragging a lot of water around. We also debated whether the dihedral was depowering the platform somewhat which is good for safety but would cause a performance hit. A canting rig would be an interesting mod and pretty easy to implement.

    What about crew weight
    you could add 1 person and add 25% to all up sailing weight.
    i cant see they could ever race with anything other than beach cats when using a formula as a handicap system.
    they have ended up in no-mans land.

    That's true crew weight certainly has a large effect on trim with smaller multihulls and their overall performance. The problem is with smaller boats is they are much more sensitive to seastate it's noticeable with F22's for example if there is a bit of chop they certainly go off the boil versus multis with a slightly longer LoA. In light conditions and minimal waves they certainly find their sweet spot though and punch above their weight.
