Watching online at some Diam24's videos, it seems her amas easily plunge in the water (really like a submarine!), they are less volumic than the Multi23's ones, this is also probably another reason why the Diam 24 is able to capsize :( !

Both of these two trimarans are designed by the same architects VPLP, so for sure they may have some similarities. I think, only the curved beams looks the same but different length (wide).

    Multi23 Specifications (MKII version):
    Length: 23 feet i.e. 6,72 m, Beam: 4,80 m, (amas: 6,05 m), Air draft: 10,80 m, Draft: 0,40-1,37 m, displacement 400 Kg
Sail area: Mainsail: 22m², Jib 8m², Gennaker: 22m², Spinnaker: 40,75m²

    Guys,
I found this Youtube video somewhere else on this forum, starting at the time: 2'25", the Multi23 runs very fast and we can see that her starboard amas is still out of water despite inclination of the trimaran.
I can easily imagine what it would be on Diam24: submarine!!! :(

It would be very interesting to see the two boats sailing together in different sea conditions...

The DIAM24 is a proper racing boat the Multi23 is a performance daysailor different design briefs. Both boats were designed by VPLP for different purposes. By the way the DIAM24 flies the main hull just fine.

I'm hoping someone will buy a DIAM and hot rod it float foils, big rig and triple trapeze now that would be something to see :).

Heres a video that illustrates how much this boat needs lifting foils,in my humble opinion:

On the bright side, it's half the price of a Motive 25. Did Motive ever sell one? I remember predicting that it wouldn't ever sell 10 units because of the price. I've never heard of one outside of the first one built and I don't recall if it ever sold.

My take is that $30-35k is the upper limit for a beach toy to have mass market sales. The Multi 23 is the best attempt I've seen so far at actually trying to build something you can sell. And it looks like a great option. If it were me that's where I'd probably go first.

I had a chat to Pete Ansel who was operating Motive Trimarans a while back it seemed that they were running out of capital and enthusiasm to build the boat. It's a shame because all of the molds had been built and were of high quality but they seemed to lose the initiative while tinkering with details to get everything perfect. Apparently the had 25 people ready to lay down the cash for a deposit but he didn't want to take the money till he felt the boat was right. There is a teachable moment in there about attempting to make a high end product perfect it shows good ethics but sometimes better to get them to a high standard and out sailing.
