I read this a second or so after I had a brain spasm.

The problem of wave direction and capture was uppermost in my mind, when it occurs to me that ALL waves have the vertical component, from any direction.

I am getting inspiration from a device that can capture that.

Picture a suspended 'squid jig' device that resists the upward movement of a boat, but sinks rapidly on the downward movement.

This makes the displacement of the boat the power source, rather than detrimental weight placement, .

There are a couple of existing commercial, stationary approaches that utilise this principle

    Bravo!
I have think about this abstraction.

One of the answer is well know, but nobody use it in that way: flopper stopper stabilizers.

Flopper stopper stabilizers do resists the upward movement of a boat, but sinks rapidly on the downward movement.

Put the mast that hold the flopper stopper on a pivot and...

Wait! it is my Abstract number 33 ! ;)
