Excellent examples. How about connecting a bicycle generator to the bottom center of your hammock so it rubbed/rolled against a suspended strap perpendicularly tensioned below and across the hammock axis. As the boat rolled and you snored through fantastical dream adventures, you would also be working your butt off recharging a battery! :D

Yes, it could be a way too do it. I like the biomimetics research done around the tail fish.

We can laugh, but it could work ! And, I am sure, it is better then a lot of cheap solar panel ! I go try it right now !

I'm considering/mentally designing, a multi-multiple magnet equipped fins, 4 quadrant fish fin drive, actuated by frictionless magnet bearing cams on a single rotating slow speed shaft. Maybe windmill powered or belt driven by low HP electric motor. So far it's only pictures in my head. No calculations or dimensions or drawings.
Hook up your hammock to that! :)

Yo, you were supposed to be considering/mentally designing your Flettner rotor instead of that contraption.

That's the best part of it. ;)

I will start on that and had a Flettner. But now, more seriously, lets go to the hammock !

I thought the Flettner rotor was pretty much designed, except for final determination of the construction of the rotor itself, sail cloth or repurposed plastic tanks, and that dependent on availability. And then building and testing it.
The Flettner is still on my mind and my agenda. Until September when I go to Florida for 3 months, there isn't much else I can do with it, is there?

My interests are varied and many. My wife had laser surgery yesterday for uterine cancer. She occupies my thoughts. She is fine, but I need mental activity other than worrying.
Shall I post my latest design for a new drum wrap? I'm planning on taking a classic compact GRP drum kit to Florida with me and there, recovering the 40 year old shells with a new custom laminate. I can't get the laminate shipped to Mexico.
Is it permissible for me to think about other things than Flettner rotors? :)

If you have more ideas about the Flettner rotor, I'd love to read them on that thread.

    Gracias

I had a dream (in my hammock).
You where on a nice Albin, having 4 mermaids tails pushing your boat. It was energizing.

I understand that my idea is crazy, but I though that this forum was serious ;)

Hammock are very interesting because you are IN the pendullum. Like in the escalator of Albert E. in his theory of relativity. "Mass, length, speed and time are not absolute but they differ in relation to the observer."

This IS a serious forum. Socializing and joking also are appropriate. I consider it a virtual community think tank sort of place.

Hammock and my gimbaled oil lamp are good example that boats are moving like pendulum and that they act like crazy horse too. At least, the last time I was aboard.

To "stop" the movement of the boat, we add an other movement.

You can stop the movement of the boat with an anchor. If you do stop the boat, then you are not going anywhere as you propose to.

May be you are too far from the subject, so you don't see the movement. ;)
