Homemade RIB howto?

Don't have a lot of time at the moment, but I have contemplated the use of some flat panel material (perhaps Nidacore, Plascore for light weight) to construct floorboard for small catamaran RIB like the ZAPcats and then put slots into the foam collars that fit snug onto outer edges of the floorboard. It the slots and snug fit are designed properly, then the foam collars might be attached with 'commercial grade' Velcro of the mushroom type.

I don't think gorilla glue would ever work for this.

 

Yeah I been looking at all that and those threads. Looks like using batons to screw the sponsons down to the hull might work out most cost effective and practical for my project though

 

I am talking using Gorilla or Purbond to construct the timber work, using batons on the ply seams with PU glue and screws

8chenuu, I gifted the inflatable canoe to a friend who will put it to good use. I have scrapped this project and instead thinking on making a simple HDPE punt with flat bottom and pontoon sides as a practice to weld HDPE sheet material

 

I'm sure you will get a lot of satisfaction from the project.
