This thread has descended into the depths of lunacy, perhaps someone can get it back on track with some concrete ideas?

Hehehaha.....it requires a "trained" mind to come up with such ideas. Underwater train-spotting could become a new hobby.

Not a hope - this thread has gone down in the annals of the Forum as one of the great mishits - eclipsed only by the Concrete Submarine threads that must rank amongst the greatest time and temper sinks on the internet. :)

Keep it going - it must never be allowed to settle out into the sediment of lost wisdom.

Descended? It was never on firm ground from the get go.

How about an idea posted in a sister forum? Train submarines propelled by kites!

If one works well, then a serried fleet of them would be even better...

Australia has oil, it might just cost a lot to drill.
This would not be the case if compared to submarine oil freighter prices.

If Aus was cut off from world oil, maybe it would go to 20$ a gallon, but it would still be there. People would make do.

A friend of mine just invested in PFC Petrofrontier, they are working with STAT oil to develop some massive new fields.

You may have not read all the posts in this thread. The OP's idea was a submarine carrying an entire train (locomotive and all) which it would disgorge at various ports of call. The trains your links point to involve reducing resistance due to the placement of an array of hulls, which is an unrelated concept to the original post.

Each demihull in my graphics could be a submarine carrying a train just below
the free-surface: the same wave cancellation principles apply.
If we are looking for the preposterous, I just gave it an extra dimension. :p

This is a comment directed towards me:
"Dump the sneaky "investment: advice - nobody is fooled it's your "friend"."
    Along with a negative rep.

This wasn't investment advice at all, I'm not telling anyone to buy shares. I merely thought of it, because we are on the topic of oil in austrailia, and since a friend of mine has been talking a lot about PFC lately, decided to bring up the fact that austrailia doesn't need a train submarine to import oil, they already have oil, and it's a matter of producing it.

Thanks though for that, pretty ignorant, for all you know I could be anybody, as you could be anybody, it's the internet.

I don't think I tried to pass on investment advice, and you don't have a clue who my friend is, so why bother even commenting or giving me negative rep?

In case you're confused, PFC is pretty much a penny stock, so were you just accidentally assuming I was just trying to act like a big shot and this is how you lash out?

Sorry to bring this out in the open, but I find it irritating that someone thinks that it was appropriate for that comment and negative rep.
