Have you looked at any wind tunnel streams of how this works Doug? I recommend you do.

I'm pasting this post here, instead of in the Lemonchois thread

On the MOD70 website there is no program for 2014, and no news related to the coming season. The MOD70 Virbac-Paprec is for sale.

But here's a recent French article saying that Gitana/Josse will be in the Route du Rhum "...not with the aim of winning given the participation of the Maxis... but to gain experience and stay in contact with the multi's. And everything depends on the weather, in weak and moderate winds the speed difference with the Maxi trimarans have a tendency to fade..."

    ...

Sidney Gavignet, maybe? Here's excerpts from something written late November:
    ...

Here's an overview of the Maxi trimarans, five of which (?) will be in the race this November.

    .

There is something that stands out in this list, I think. What do you suppose it is?

    ;)

There was a bit more from Sebastian Josse in this article on Course au Large it appears that he will take the Edmond de Rothschild MOD70 in the Route du Rhum and an IMOCA in the Vendee Globe:

    The rough bing translate:

About team, having the Gitana Team around you is a great asset...
"Very clearly: Yes. '' A team that has been implemented for many years, with a hard core and very competent people I have around me. They did run big trimarans, a maxi, an IMOCA already (the Gitana 80' led by Loick Peyron in 2008, ndr), MOD70 Edmond de Rothschild, alias Gitana XV group. Everyone perfectly knows her job and has the potential to return the MOD70 to the IMOCA. This team represents a big firepower and an undeniable advantage for me. Currently, we are working smoothly both on the preparation of the Route du Rhum with Edmond de Rothschild Group MOD70 and on this dossier of monohull IMOCA for the Vendée Globe 2016."

The latest video of the Spindrift Racing "40 metres solo" video covers cutting the mast. They are reducing the mast height by about 6 metres to 41 metres.

Franck Cammas on Groupama3 had the bike fitted along with the shortened mast when he competed in (and won) the 2010 edition of the Route du Rhum.
