    Again, facts that contradict beliefs tend to reinforce the beliefs by causing the believer to change the credibility they assign to those facts http://www.tara.tcd.ie/handle/2262/39465

    In this case
    A= Oceans are not Rising
    therefore
    B = coastal areas like Florida are not losing ground to ocean incursion due to rising oceans.

    So we now have satellite GPS evidence that coastal areas in FL and Bangladesh are losing ground due to ocean incursion as well as other factors

    therefore the reasoned revises the view of A - strengthening their belief in it.

    you support dramatic climactic change that will displace upwards of 1 Billion people.

    Do you really think the UsA won't be affected when Putain uses nukes to stop the influx at his borders?

    You mean explode nukes in silos, to make Russia unattractable for migrants?

    There's about 250 million folks in low elev coastal regions of se asia https://www.ehs.unu.edu/file/get/4097

    A 1' ocean level rise by 2050 would displace them. where do they go? simple - north.

    What's north? china and Russia.

    Do you think China and Russia will be letting in 200+ million migrants? Of course not. but even normal military units get overwhelmed by volume. so you use WMD. Russia has used poison gas previously rather indiscriminately with the Chechyans. So why would they not escalate?

    "It's a long, long way to Russia's border..." from Bangladesh or Vietnam. Chinese comrades will solve this problem before any refuges reach Siberia.

    Why not? Warmer climate can permit these people sustain life they used to on shores of Northern ocean.

    I think, for Russia is better to kill poor potentially displaced people beforehand. Directly in flooded deltas. Or not flooded.

    But all in all, this ideas about population mass transit from SE Asia to Russia are simple fantasies. For Russia, real scenario is migration from southern ex-USSR countries. Especially considering that for some of these countries about 50% of male workforce already work and live in Russia.

    It seems this thread has now gotten pretty far away from the original topic of a report in 2013 about arctic ice increasing or a scientific discussion; with the posts on the last few pages seeming to cause more offense than enjoyable learning or sharing ideas, it's probably best to draw this thread to a close at this point.
