    Stewed Tomatoes For Seasickness

I grew up Commercial Fishing in the Gulf of Mexico and i was Seasick only once in over 40 years and that was before i began to keep stewed tomatoes on board for emergency seasickness. Dramamine makes lots of folks sick, but it works for some. Fresh ginger root works well, but not for everybody. These are the only cures that I am familiar with alhough i am sure there are others.:!:

the wrist bands supposedly have been tested at efficacy rates above placebo

scopolamine patches work, but inhibit coordination and vision

    Corley epoxy coated

I've used sturgeron it was very effective for me with no real side effects but seasickness relief seems to be a very personal thing.

It really depends on when you are taking them and how serious the sea sickness is. For day to day the bands work very well, more serious cases the patch and it's ilk work fine, for very serious sub-linguals like Ondansetron are great but have side effects, suppositories are very effective but have administration issues. In worst case scenarios Fenergan is a good go to, but has major side effects.

It really depends on what you are treating and how serious it is. I try to carry Meprogan Forte in my sailing bag, which is an extremely powerful anti-nausea and painkiller rolled into one. It will cure sea sickness, but it will also put the person to sleep for a few days.

I will explain it to you.

It looks like an ordinary wrist band but only fits placebo wrists. if you you have real wrists they wont work.

The other type of placebo wrist band doesn't really exist. they simply tell you they are putting a wrist band on (it doesn't have to be a placebo wrist in this case) but they don't. This is to see if people get better because they think they are wearing a wrist band.

That isn't a placebo band ! I used those bands years ago, they must have worked as I can't recall "heaving" over the side, but, maybe I wouldn't have got sick without them. One wiseacre told me they only work if you believe they work. I am still trying to get my head around that. :D

I think you misunderstood what I wrote. These were considered to be placebos until they were actually tested against a placebo and worked better than placebo

IOW it was tested - in correct usage vs. placebo (ie in different places and without the nubs). and worked better than placebo

There can be a psychological component to sea sickness for some people, it's an anxiety response. For motion fatigue induced incapacity these aids do nothing at all unfortunately.

    djaus Salted Nut!

I use KWELLS motion sickness relief tablets, available at all chemist/drug stores. They work 99% of the time but occasionally feel a bit off but I havn't brought lunch back up yet!

Since I got my Hartley fixed & on the water I always get woozy if I'm drifting in a swell.
I also have Phenergan on standby for hayfever relief but they make me very drowsy. A 10mg tablet before boating is sufficient, 25mg ones knock me out if I sit still for too long!
