Remember that when the islamisists seized control of somalia they ended piracy overnight. They just chopped thier heads off. This regime was not western approved and was removed...pirates came back to life.

The solutions to all problems are complex...

Officials should interrogate and listen very carefully to the testimony of the captured pirate chief so that they may learn how to formulate more effective policy responses to problems as they form..not after they have become entrenched.

Paying bribe is not a part of capitalism, it's a crime just like piracy and the outcome of this bribe paying is often a form of piracy on the local resources . . . :idea:

Corruption runs rampant in and out of government and should be resisted. You can't paint all corporations with the tar brush because of a few bad actors.

 

I didn't, in fact the companies that don't pay bribe are victims as well as they can't compete with it.

Bribes are paid for the benifit of consumers. You want a teak log...no problem, .....a bribe is paid, disguise its origin as chinese, then resell in Germany .

We all know this is how the circle works and we accept it because we want the teak, the oil, the minerals.

Is the problem capitalism ? Or consumerism ? Or Apathy ? Or Greed ? Or ignorance ?

This is unclear. The results of this..problem...are very clear

 

I will quit consuming when I am dead, same as you.

 

In meantime trying to consume fair to everyone in the chain is an option . . . :idea:

In countries such as the US ,with laws against foriegn corrupt practices , its multi ntional companies can simply subcontract the bride out to a foreign affiliate.

Hence the final judgement of ethical behavior can only be the end consumer.
