Question for friends down under.

regarding the snakes and spiders back home in Aus, we just walk around on tip toes trying not to get bit. Every couple of weeks or so we get the Flick guys in to spray the house and yard inside out. The ones to watch out for are the drop bears! Them buggers have an *** hide thicker then plate aluminum and give you a nasty lump on the head if you sit under a tree!!!!

 

Is rabies and issue in Australia, New Zealand ?

No, but bats & flying foxes carry something similar here, disgusting creatures, hang upside down all day, the colonies reek........

They're probably not overly impressed with humans either (whose colonies also reek, of smog).

 

I've found that a 40 grain dose of Pb works very efficiently...

That actually sounds pretty good. The possum who's been upending our trash cans and setting off the dogs may be living a more dangerous lifestyle than he realizes.... he's so big I thought for a second he was a raccoon when I first spotted him in the dark.

The house we inherited from my mother-in-law is across the street from a tiny neighborhood park, and after sundown the grass is usually carpeted with fat, healthy cottontail rabbits. I have a top-break pellet gun that's about as deadly as a .22 up to about thirty or forty yards. It's dead quiet unless you use the ultralight pellets that go supersonic, in which case it cracks like a .22...

Those cottontails are living on borrowed time; my wife is the only thing standing between them and me.
