anyone with any experience using c-flex?

You'll have to order buy a pallet or make significantly large orders to get my pricing. Ordering a handful of sheets isn't going to reach the first price break. If you can team up with others needing quality plywood, you can get volume discounts.

 

C-flex building

I used c-flex about 20 years ago to build three different boats. From 20 to 36 foot long.
I used iso resin right over the planking. I only wet the planking about 50% out and then let it go off. I found that if I used two layers of 1.5 oz mat and then a layer of 24 ox roving at the same time I could fair 90% of the ridges out with just a roller while the glass was still wet After doing the outside laminating and rooling the hull over I was able to finish wetting out the c-flex with no problems. How are those boats doing? Was there ever any problems with the C-Flex? Any photos?

 

C-flex building

The boats are doing fine. They are like mosy other single skin fiberglass boat of their age. All were built thicker than needed so they shoud last many more years. I am not at home for two weeks so no pictures till then if they would still be wanted.
I have tried to buy some more C-Flex but have not been able to find a sorce. Does anyone know where it can be bought at this time?

I built a c-flex hull for a fred bingham designed allegra 24 many years ago, it was a very good system for building a shapely, heavy displacement, solid glass hull. The seaflex planks lay nice and fair. We followed the directions and used the marble casting resin to wet out the c-flex and had no problems with shrinkage at all. It was a long time ago but I believe we faired the c-flex with before proceding with the laminate, not a huge job as it is only the shallow lows between the rods. Common sense dictates that you dont layup too much of the laminate at a time with the laminating resin to keep the exotherm down. All in all I think its a good system.

I have e-mailed Seamans a couple of times and never recieved back anything. I thought maybe they went out of bussiness after the huricane?
Like the last poster said I keep the thickness of each layup down. Just the first layeer over the planking seemed to be better if I used two layers of mat under a roving. I felt like I could work the mat down into the ridges and smooth things up by doing it that way. The casting resin was not avalible to me so I never did try it but things worked out anyway.

The OP, Tugboat, apparently called and talked to the Seamans guys recently and they were real helpful, so you might try that.
