Massive respect to Tom Speer. Maybe in a decade or two we'll get the scoop on what miracle occurred in the shop the night after race 11.

What a big mistake TNZ has made (again, and again, and again) by choosing to split at the end of the leg 2. With an evidently slower boat, you HAVE to try remain glued to your oponent if you're in front of him.

Oracle Team has made an incredible come-back after the initial period of coma, I just can't wait to hear the details about the technical aspects of their feat. What did they change on their boat to make it become another machine in just 2 days time? I place my bets on the electronics and weight distribution.

    Congratulations to the Team Oracle!

With an evidently slower boat, you HAVE to lose !
I believe that Oracle team used its plan B set of foils...They should had taken this decision one day earlier, at -6 .

Gary in NZ there has been a lot of press about electronics and electronic control of the level of the Oracle boat, I've seen nothing about it in he UK, any clues or links perhaps.

I'm not sure that it was just technology that was the clincher, Today TNZ seemed to be always the fastest boat over the water whilst upwind, perhaps they took the earlier advice of bearing away a tad just bit too much.

Anyway guys and gals its over and now we can all get back to talking about boat design

sandbagging and coming back stronger has a much more demoralising effect on the opponent

Kiwis gave their best, very proud ... but they were up against an electronic boat, like high end electronics, like aircraft control stuff ... and in comparison, ETNZ was analog.
Be very interested to hear the truth when it comes out - if it ever does.
I guess a win in such a marginally? legal (the REAL question) boat is something to crow about.

if the next cup are similar boats then we wont hear

Ok Doug can we hijack the thread to the discussion on what could/should the next boats be if we want more teams to participate?
Will Kiwi challange if the boats are the same?
    etc etc

First Foiling America's Cup: Property of the USA!

    ===============
You can't even say congratulations? You imply cheating on a day like this?
Especially when TNZ had 5-6 penalties on the water to Oracles ZERO?!

They were just against a faster boat. Just the opposite of what was happening in the first 11 races - but then nobody said that the Kiwi boat was "electronic" ! :)

The Kiwis? What kind of crazy propaganda are you spreading?

IT WAS THE Emirates Team against Oracle, The UAE hired Kiwis .... And the Kiwis did not do what the Oil Rich hired them to do .... Legal, electronic, aircraft controlled, or not.

The Kiwis did not perform the job they were hired for.

Oracle did not defeat New Zealand's team, they defeated the Emirates Team .... the 'New Zealand team' did not even show up for the race.

In glass houses, do not throw stones at the neighbors ....

    ;)

The word is that Oracle had push button automated control over foils: similar to an autopilot. The crew need not anything aside form keep up hydraulic pressure. I cannot see that surviving another cup.

WTF has water penalties got to do with the question?
No, I can't congratulate Oracle. Their win will always have a ? in many peoples minds.
Looking ahead, and all this BS about lowering costs; now we have an electronic hormone-like creation to produce - if to be competitive - what happened to that argument?
