I thought Corsairs were built in Vietnam not on the Barbary coast?

When the mast is not plumb but is leaning to leeward it certainly used to be a problem for the ORMA 60s. Standard long-race practice was to just dump the windward shroud hydraulic ram just before a tack to allow the mast to fall to leeward. The boat would then be tacked. This obviously saves the labour of pumping the rig to windward, but the boat became a real bear to handle once the rig canted to leeward.

It looks on the tracker as though Prince de Bretagne Maxi has retired from the race.

 

And running for home.

I suspect his boat was a bit to light for the conditions. A bit more weight and he would probably still be racing.

Another frogie bites the dust. A shame he put a lot of thought into it.

Banquepop and Spindrift have rounded now, between 2 and 3pm CET, Spindrift has their AIS on.

PdB on their site quotes Lionel Lemonchois saying their daggerboard was stuck in the down position; that appears to be the reason they abandoned.

Would like to follow the continuation, but have a flight to catch!

 

No press release yet that I have seen but Spindrift2 croaked home just ahead of Banque Populaire VII after the wind faded out in the final approach. They stayed in surprisingly close contact throughout the race and rounded Fastnet Rock within close range of each other. Oman Air MOD70 in third with Edmond de Rothschild MOD70 with some distance still to go.

They crossed the line only seconds ahead of Banque Populaire VII after the wind faded out near the finish and the heavier Spindrift2 started losing ground to the relatively lightweight BPVII.

Correction it wasn't actually that close the gap at the finish was 22 minutes not sure why the press release reads as only seconds seperation.

 

Can't find Dazcat in the list of Mulitihulls only DAZZLA.

Did it withdraw.

The Dazcats (Dazzla, Suenos) are still out racing the dazcat Drama Queen has finished you can see them on the tracker if you look in the vicinity of Lands End they are racing in the MOCRA multihulls category. The Schionning waterline is trailing Suenos.

 

Still can't find waterline on the tracker lists all divisions. SORRY TO BE A PAIN CAN YOU GIVE THE HYPERLINK TO THE INFO.

If you open the tab and uncheck everything except the mocra multihulls it should show up and you can wind back the track.

 

Thanks. Obviously an old design. Do you happen to know the name off the boat. A couple off 40 footers mono hulls beat it home. It was for sale in 2008.
