Soft loops

Has anyone built their own soft loops instead of U bolts for a foam sandwich deck. I have a couple of ideas in mind but would like to see how others have done it off possible.

Easy to make...difficult to describe.

Do some googling or buy a Ronstan soft link. These are for dinghies...not expensive. Once you have it take it apart and you will have your tutorial

Beware that the breaking strain of the loop is seriously affected by the diamond knot. You can read about breaking test on the l-36 site.

I've used such a loop for a trailer winch eye on the bow of the boat. Just a hole and the loop through it with some sealant kit. Works good.

The poor man's version of the colligomarine padeye could be the loop through a small length of reinforced pvc tube (sticking out just above the deck) + backing plate. I think that such a construction can be made watertight with sealant.

Haven't tried yet but just a thought.
