    Yes, I built this in our garage.

    It is an excellent, seaworthy boat. We've been through 8' oncoming breaking waves, never once stuffed the bow. I built in positive flotation and it is self-bailing.

    I never did a blog, but I've got a lot of posts on the fishyfish.com site.

    Join that and you'll find a ton of information on these amazing boats, as well as what others have done with the basic design.

    Building is not realistic for me right now. I've accepted that and am now looking for something like the tolman but that has been in mass production for a while. I think a downeaster will be my best bet. Now I am trying to narrow the field a bit. There are a lot of them.
    I'm wondering which of the production boats would be lightweight like the toleman?

    I saw one of those C Dory boats..a 19 footer on a trailer. Looked to be well put together, nice detailing.

    None. Any production fiberglass boat would be 2-3X heavier than a Toman.

    These are similar to a Tolman in fiberglass:

    But it weighs 5,000 lbs and needs twice the horsepower to perform.

    We or others could build a Tolman for you.
