A few surprises at the marina this weekend

I personally liked the old houseboat, but didn't really understand the anchor system.

 

regarding last picture, the anchor won't be a problem for long if that's how he installs bilge pumps!

 

I'm not sure what is happening there, and I probably don't want to know . . .

The boat is a replica of the original which sank in 1745.

Holdiay Island Cruise Anyone?

don't know if this pic has been posted here before, but it's the first time I've seen it, and I want one!

 

Is that a cannon ball at the waterline?

 

I met Al Lubowski back in the 70's and helped him to repair his sailboat Zest. He moved West to Vancouver island but we have stayed in touch. One of his many ventures was the building of the giant canoe Qaanas; her story is told in the link below.

The boat recently changed hands and is heading to Clayoquot Sound with her new owners. Shown here being prep'd for her long journey north, she has changed somewhat over the years and is now named the Aquitania. It seemed like a good opportunity to tell her story, while the website is still available.

I wish her and her new owners good luck and calm waters.
