A huge unmanned drone lands on a ship out at sea.
Fantastic technology.

 

I can't wait to see it land in 20' seas with a pitching and rolling deck on a very dark night with strong wind gusts. They will need an ex carrier pilot at the joy stick. I forgot to add during a heavy rain storm. That is what sets the Ace's apart from the drone controllers.

 

Yah ....drones everywhere these days. Just last week I cleared customs and immigration with the boat. The entire office was staffed by humanlike drones wielding rubber stamps and surrounded by mountain of paperwork

 

Some pilots of the Asian persuasion apparently can't even manage a landing on a static runway in bright clear conditions

Current excuse - ''there was a bright light shining in my eyes"

 

That 777 cut power 500' over the runway! First time flight instructor and pilot half-way through training. I assumed when I take a commercial flight the pilot has landed there before.

 

Captain Scully did not have a Sea Plane Rating on his Commercial License yet he landed in the Hudson River. Should he be prosecuted????????????????????????????????????????

NONONONONO double his salary........................ Grant him an Honorable Sea Plane Rating.

 

That pilot was not 500 feet over the runway he hit the sea wall at the edge of the bay and the main landing gear was retrived from the bay. I have landed many times at SF airport, as a pilot.

My understanding is the pilot in command was a fully certified 747 pilot, a much heavier plane with 4 engines, not 2 as the 777 has which makes this error hard to understand.

 

Maybe he overestimated the two engine power on his approach glide path causing the runway undershot

 

Remarkably, the Asiana flight crew wasn't drug or alcohol tested following the accident. Drive your car into a wall and you will be.

 

If no testing was done on the pilots then the FAA should be condemed and the top dog fired. If the nose wheel had hit the sea wall the plane might have totally fliped over on it's back and over 200 people would have died.

 

Nearest thing to a miracle you will ever see in a plane crash, that hundreds did not die. Some heroic deeds performed in getting people out before it burned.

 

It is now claimed that the pilots were licensed in a foreign country, and therefore not subject to such tests ! So foreign drunk drivers have an open go in the US ? Hardly likely. And news is emerging that no medical help was rendered to survivors for more than 20 minutes after the crash.

 

Some medical aid was fairly prompt but it was inadequate. Calls were still going up for help 20 minutes after the crash. The fact that there were so few fatalities is amazing in view of the fact that passengers were told to remain in their seats by the crew after the crash. The plane did not commence to evacuate until 90 seconds after the crash. The plane was designed to have been completely evacuated within 90 seconds but that did not happen due to improper orders to remain seated. The 2 stewardesses sucked out when the tail section tore off had no part in that silly command.

 

It was the first accident of a 777 to involve fatalities, an extremely good safety record.

 

Pilots should wear special laser safety glasses providing CE certified laser radiation protection when nearing a landing zone.
