Boat business in pretty bad here too.

Everyone I know has gone out of " business" and are now operating out of the back of their truck, using their house as the office and their mobile phone as the secretary.

Everyone is cutting down on non-essentials or making do with old stuff. Strangely it doesn't seem to affect the auto industry, at least not here in Canada, where it had its second best year ever. The auto industry is aided by its customers' long aclimatization to a product that will rust if it doesn't wear out, where the parts are so ruinously expensive that it becomes cheaper to buy new.

For the rest, I think it's mostly uncertainty stifling investment preventing growth resulting in lack of new jobs resulting in uncertainty . . .

Part of it, I think, is inflation is so low. Yes, that's what I said. Here's how it works: people who have money don't spend it because prices are not rising so there's no incentive to spend it now if one doesn't have to. The money stays in the bank, and the bank can't find people to borrow it at a decent rate. This called a stagnant economy. The cause can be either high inflation OR low inflation. Just my theory . . .

    ==================
I sure hope this works out for the people of Egypt-but you stay safe, Vulkyn.
Do you think this will finally resolve things or make the situation even worse?
    Best of luck!

Well it was a learning experience i guess, we are new to "freedom" so everything went wrong.

The demand now is the legislation before the president (as to avoid a one sided version like what the version was made recently).

We will see how it goes but we are expecting violence and retaliation they will not step down with out a fight.

On FOX this morning, they said the Canal is in danger from all the rioting so the price of Oil is already increasing.
Strange that the leader wont step down, won't adopt a constitution that does not include the Muslim Religion as the political leader.

I was working at DeBirs Yachts in Alexandra for 18months as build Capt. representing a US client to deliver two yachts 85ft & 100ft.

The one constant behaviour of staff on the boats during every phase of build & fit out was arguing and shouting between the men and even worse bitching amongst the female staff. Occasionally male workers would go from arguing to fighting.

It was just constant noise, crazy disorder and for each person actually doing something two or more were just standing around just making a fuss.

Although a few of the team leaders were dedicated and skilled but the majority were deadwood.

Why would a guy try to be an Egyptian dictator after seeing what happened to the last one? Slow learner perhaps? Maybe just a passion for tradition . . .

Power is the absolute corrupter. The last head of state had a pretty long run, so . . .

Until the countries that attempt to mix religion with politics stop doing so, this will always occur. It's just irrational to mix belief in the super natural and the man derived control and moral burdens this entails, with practical solutions to everyday issues. Even in a state where the huge predominance of one basic set of beliefs is common, you'll still have folks that are burdened with someone elses idea of morality, which should be a personal set of values, not state run. Without this separation, no society in the history of the world, has been able to survive, intact. In fact, the vast expanse of technological advances, seen in recent generations, can be directly linked to the less prominent role of life's purpose - governed by a super natural being's (man generated) "word". Simply put, most every organized religion, forces some arrogant aspects about their lives to be fulfilled, like it or not.

For example the Christians would suggest the likes of Mahatma Gandhi is rotting in hell, just because he didn't accept Christ as his savior. Well this is just as arrogant as the Muslims suggesting all that aren't, are destined for the same. This sort of "bent" self serving morality, is why religion must be separated from politics, other wise, someone is getting screwed in the deal, all because they've elected to not believe like the "chosen". Some will accept Sharia, while others will get screwed - imagine that. Belief, by it's very nature is a set of personal decisions and if crammed down your throat, well, cities burn eventually.

Religion, historically, has been the device used to control the masses. I warned, very early in this thread about the "Brotherhood" and sure enough . . . In a modern society, you have to let folks make their own choices. This is the righteous thing to do and the only truly successful path. In other words, what's good for me (I attend church weekly) may not be for you and I don't have issue with this, though some religions and societies think they should speak for you in this regard. Which is the basic rub and impossibility with mixing religion or a belief system, into politics.

Freedom, real freedom is tough (something I also mentioned previously in this thread). Democracy in particular is difficult. Defending someone's right to vehemently speak out about a subject, that you've spent your whole life strongly opposing is real freedom, even if it sucks on a personal level. This is where religion and political mixing goes wrong.

Paul, that is one of the best posts you've ever done-I couldn't agree more. The danger is everywhere-not the least in our own country where certain elements of the population would like nothing better than a theocracy.
    Best of luck, Vulkyn!

To use one of Mr. Moursi famous quotes "Alcohol and driving dont mix" = "politics and religion dont mix"

Paul very insightful post I agree. The notion of I am holier / better / superior / more religious etc.. than others tend to lead to a dead end.

Whats really amazing is that in the presidential debates he was asked a clear question if millions demonstrate and ask you to step down what will you do?
His answer "This will not happen with me because i will know what the people want beforehand and if that happened i will step down."
I mean sure politicians lie and bend things but at least be smart doing it >.<
