Just pick on a common brand of gun with a more modern chopper unit and use that !!
Doesn't necessarily have to be off a Glass Kraft could be Venus or what ever ! the mountings are similar with a single bolt and a couple of dished eccentric washers between to adjust the spray of glass just need air and its away . they are pretty much all the same !!

I threw a complete unit gun and chopper same as what you have in the dump when I left nz !was in good condition as well , :)

Really those old glass kraft guns were a pain in the rear end I used one for about 3 years and then I left the company . during the time we had it it did a lot of work . I nursed it till he day I left and the next guys stuffed it in a short time after . If you are into fibre glassing you better to find some thing more up to date and much more reliable a Venus gun of the 1980 era is a much better gun , im here in china and reconditioned 4 of them recently !,just seals and cups and worked perfectly ok apart from the fact we could get a decent operator . the Venus had a positive displacement catalyst pump slaved off the main pump so they never miss a beat . keep it clean and well oiled and will see you out and still be going in another 30 years time !
The choppers never really changed to much over the many years and bits are readily available . try a fibre glass supplier first they might have some info to help you look in the yellow pages on your part of the planet there must be hundreds of places that you could ring and ask !!
Good luck ! if you need any technical info just ask !!:p

Hi thanks. I am pretty new to the fibber glass machinery side of things. I have an old glass craft machine with a catalist tank and another that has a small catalist pump. Also i have an old six pump binks gelcoat machine with only two guns thoe. I have only just reconditioned them and cant wait to start them up with some ressin. I have small workshop that i just built and am just trying to turn something i love into a job. It would be nice to build that fist boat and make some more money to re invest. Its hard to find second hand kit in the UK so i have to import from abroad. I have seen some guns on ebay APLICATOR SYSTEM AB FIBER GLASS CHOPPER GUN Graco RS Gel Coat Spray Gun-External Mix for Fiberglass Applications, but wonderd what your opinion was and how well they would work. Thanks again!

Just the guns are pretty useless without the rest of the system !! The old glass Kraft tank and tapered glass tube with a ball was is and always has been the most temperamental thing you ever come across . find a complete Venus system and make it into something !! get pictures of everything because there's so many variations of bits and pieces guns, pumps ,and catalyst pumps there lots different options !!
I have the job of writing a service manual for all the guns we have here in total theres 6 all different all variations of each other and then it all had to be translated into Chinese !! but found the venus agent he identified each one and its bits and got all the new parts no problem . and everything worked 100% . so what ever you looking at get pictures of all and every part ! so it can be identified properly!!!
plus I did a operators manual for the chopper gun and for the 2 gel coat guns and some video all in Chinese !!Took a while that's for sure . not forgetting a day to day trouble shooting chart as well !! it was a challenge believe me !

That's a model I never seen before but would take it to be a high pressure system by the size of the power head but cant see the actual resin pump . its got a positive displacement catalyst pump so that's a huge plus !! cant see the actual gun but a chopper can be fitted just need a air line to it and a air pressure regulator to set the chopper speed with or as some use a restrictor at the air motor that has a screw with a lock nut . most every gun has the hand control with the on off trigger actuated valve already there just doesn't get used but check if the bits are inside or not !

personally I say forget it !!,
find something in a little better condition and must be complete . there's some terrible stuff kicking around and makes you wonder why people used such crap !!
As long as you find a complete set up even with pumps and all the bits including a boom with a chopper gun attached at least it could have been working ,so just a matter of doing a complete strip down and clean and seals and cups replacements .
The old glass craft we got had a small tree growing through it and had been out in the elements for maybe 5 to 10 years but it was complete . took a month working on it in spare time and was able to hook on the air and away it went !!,like I said the catalyst system was really temperamental but we build a few 36 foot launch's and unknown number of big acid tanks with it !!
and never had one single failure ever !!had a few scary moments but always finished the jobs !!
Icing up till we fitted an oiler with antifreeze in it !! problem solved !

    Hi Nicholas,
It seems that you have gotten pretty adept at finding parts. I'm really new to this also. So I thought you might be able to help me find a used resin and catalyst check valve for my Glascraft indy gun.

    Mahalo,

    Scott

Sorry I only have full Indy guns at the moment. You should be able to get them from glas-craft.
