Russians and Glen L - at the bottom of the world

I dropped into the Franklin (Franklin, Tasmania, Australia) Living Boat Trust on the way to 'work' the other day, and got a real surprise at the variety and type of boats hanging around this sleepy little village. It was like a mini-boat festival, with a huge variety of boats littering the foreshore.

One was a replica viking ship on its way around the world from Russia,

the other was a Glen L powerboat being built in the very conservative non-profit shed of the LBT.

The contrast of the Viking Style Boat with the modern yacht is interesting to me.

All very nice especially as you picked a day when it wasn't totally fogged in or snowing, but - you're supposed to be finishing *your* boats not drooling over other peoples'.

Not to mention my rudder.....

Oh yes - that stuff. I did do a bit more on the two kayaks. The decks have their first glass/epoxy layer, and now I am up to hatch and coaming fitting. I am spending two days a week in the shed, and staying overnight. Once they are completed, I can get your rudder on the bench and knock something up.

I plan on having it done by Xmas

Ps I found a gas hose in the shed that fits the bottle (with and adapter from K&D) , so the lead pouring is getting closer too.
