We are looking for 40' - 50' + cruising sail cat plans with all the modern looks and style, with wave piercing hulls, clean flat lines and lot's of interior space with staterooms with walk around beds.

I understand the performance hit with fat hulls and/or low bridge decks for athwart ship staterooms.

Still wanting that "Gunboat" or "M&M" look for a big cruiser.

Want to build GRP not wood if possible.

    Any Ideas?

Walk around double berths are a big problem in catamarans particularly in the smaller size range of 40' -50' and seem to be more easily achieved in trimarans. You probably don't have quite as much interior space overall on a trimaran but it is in one large area rather than split between two hulls and a bridgedeck as on a catamaran. You don't mention how many berths you require if it's just for a couple with kids you probably get away with it better.

It's a production trimaran not plans but you could look at something like the Neel trimarans as a reference. I think I'd prefer one of these to a very compromised fat hulled catamaran if I simply had to have the space.

Since what your after is out of the ordinary maybe you could discuss it with Kurt Hughes who still designs large cruising catamarans and trimarans for building from plans.

Your original post just screamed Schionning GForce to me, the rest are pedestrian by comparison, especially the Freeflow !

I feel his SOR is quite contradictory really. Staterooms with walk around berths are quite at odds with wave piercing hull shapes which are by nature fine with reduced load carrying characteristics and offer limited space in the 40'-50' range. There is certainly nowhere to put a stateroom with a walk around berth on a Geforce unless you put it in the bridgedeck/saloon.

What do you think of the old Manta Sail Cat design? What do you think it would take to update that design?

If a owner without enough experience and human resources to runing a new boat project ..maybe need take 5 years + double cost .

of course , to buy and to build a boat with different meaning.

I think wave piercing hull shapes not a probelm for put a walk around beds. for my understand it more depend on hull width and height .. not be confined to length .

put a walk around bed on the mid hull is possible for 45'-50'cat
