Turmoil in Egypt

I know how to solve the Egyptian turmoil problem. Okume marine plywood.

I propose a fully loaded container ship of marine ply, plus a tanker full of epoxy resin be immediately shipped to Egypt.

Once Egyptians get their hands on this marine plywood they can start building millions of small skiffs, kayaks, stand up paddle boards, sand surfing boards...............
With all this boat building going on they will be to busy talking about Beam length ratios, chine logs, epoxy fillets, sanding boards....to be causing any trouble on the street.

Elect me president and Ill straighten things out

 

It is terribly sad for you and yours, Vulkyn.
But with the army controlling so much of a dwindling economy, it means
there are enormous numbers of people without good incomes or a secure future.
I can't see an end to the cycle of violence, upheaval, the army taking
control and the consequent corruption for a long time. Tourists are not likely
to come back to Egypt for many months, if not years.

What a sad state of affair we humans have reached ..... on the bright side no demonstrations today outside work ! I can go home now "wohoo" ....

 

good to hear you are safe and sound. We have not "reached" that sad state of affairs, that is unfortunately the "natural" state of affairs for most of human existence. Every generation of humans are basically barbarians, it is up to their parents and the community they live in to civilize children as they grow up. And as can be seen, it does not take much "conditioning" to have otherwise modern humans revert back into barbarism.

Most attempts as democracy fail dismally, the only time most countries have relative peace and stability is under the heavy hand of a dictator. It is only a rare few that out live their new freedoms. I do not know what the magic formula is, it is only a very few that make the transition without falling back into more barbarism. Hopefully there are enough decent people left in your country to find their way into getting control of the large gangs of barbarians so you can create a peaceful and prosperous future for Egypt. with freedom comes a heavy and often unpleasant task of responsibility.

 

Sadly that is because a democracy is not a sustainable model. It always at some stage leads to a dictatorship and is just a form of communism.

The only system that is sustainable is where the government serves the people and not the people serve the government. Police and military should protect, not attack the people in a country. Banks plunder the people, schools learn children how to serve masters, not to be thinking free.

All this came about from a small group who through corruption manipulates people and take away their rights so they become disposable, after that what ever resources there are only serve the need of these few.

Anything else from freedom always fail.

 

The lack of legitimacy by the Moslem Brotherhood gives a natural entree for the military to step in and seize control but meanwhile the Egyptian military seems to grow fonder of US weapon systems which might give the powers in Washington at the time of a military ascendancy some options...to dissuade or curb wanton corruption in a military-martial law state...Either way..tourism would likley benefit from such a state as tourist security (at least) levels would rise ...giving hope to those reliant on the tourist economy.. The Syrian question may have some bearing on the future events in Egypt...as well as many other known unknowns...on the other hand..lack of the tourism economy might wake up those in the mercantile/ middle class who have been asleep in the lap of foreign tourist money and give rise to new leaders with a respectful yet progressive voice for the future..will be interesting

 

So things have been as hectic as always. Some how it starts to become normal and we start getting used to it.
I am no longer surprised when i hear people have been hurt or killed. You feel sad but some how you get used to it or rather you start to expect it.
My prayers for the families effected from the boston bombing. It is a sad state the world is reaching.
Yes i am still alive and still struggling to get over the situation we have in Egypt...

Well leaving all the drama aside, i will start to build my house soonish. Which means i can in about 1-2 years start my boat building in my free time ! So something positive amidst all this i guess ...

Great to hear from you, Vulkyn-glad you're ok. Looks like senseless violence is everywhere these days. One of the Boston bombers was an American citizen and the other had applied. Both had been here a long time. I hope it doesn't turn out to be religously inspired because that will be the hardest to deal with.
