You are correct that CO2 only absorbs a narrow band of radiation. However, you are incorrect that adding more CO2 to the atmosphere will not result in increased warming. This graph is from the website I posted yesterday:

Figure 2: Spectrum of the greenhouse radiation measured at the surface. Greenhouse effect from water vapor is filtered out, showing the contributions of other greenhouse gases (Evans 2006).

The important point to recognize is that our climate is finely balanced between incoming solar radiation, the heat generated by the earth, and the heat that is lost from the earth through (re)radiation. Even though CO2 absorbs only in a small portion of the total radiation spectrum, the long-wave infrared radiation that CO2 captures is a very critical part of the radiation balance.

If a planet has very little atmosphere (like the Moon), the incoming solar radiation is not captured and you have a very hot surface in the day (200°F), and a very cold surface at night (minus 280°F). On the other hand, if a planet's atmosphere is too retentive (like that of Venus, almost 100% CO2, average surface temperature 863°F), you get a runaway greenhouse effect.

So, a little greenhouse effect is essential; a lot of greenhouse effect is bad. Based on the geological climatic records, as well as climatic computer modeling, the amount of greenhouse gases on earth is reaching a critical level. It is foolish to ignore the abundance of evidence warning us.

Reasonable mariners prepare their boats when warned that a hurricane is approaching. Why wouldn't we also want to prepare if warned that another type of climatic disaster is approaching -- especially if with a relatively small amount of effort we can reduce the intensity of the storm?

The question plays a small part in a survey. The results a based on the answers, that's where the problem lies.

Venus is hot because it's very much closer to the sun! :)
Learned THAT in 4th grade! :)
Sure! Let's make rational preparations to survive all probable calamitys.
Destroying the USA and subverting our constitution isn't rational, but is calamitous!
None of these threads about AGW are about how to set up your boat for climate change, although I've suggested numerous times, let's discuss individual efforts and options.
Instead, it's always about, "We have to accept your world view or we are all doomed!"
So be it. We are all doomed because I AIN'T accepting the socialists world view! NEVER, NOT EVER!

Yes, there are scientists all over the world who are socialists. There are also scientists who are not socialists. But the socialist agenda scientists outshout and dismiss other non-socialist scientists as practicing psuedo-science or accuse them being industry shills, or resort to "the science is settled" ect.
I have NO respect for so called "scientists" with such narrow minds!
They aren't very scientific when then try to ram their self serving theory down all our throats.
    We RESIST!

Where is your evidence we evolved from lower animals?
If you've discovered the "MISSING LINK", the world, especially the socialists, will adore you! :)

You may find it educational to advance beyond your 4th-grade knowledge of the universe (and your 4th-grade knowledge of the Constitution).

WIKIPEDIA | Venus, Atmosphere and Climate
In the past this thread has discussed both individual and national/international options. It is pointless to discuss options if you don't first understand the cause of the problem. What I've noticed is that YOU either disappear from the conversation (I would too if I had made as many inaccurate statements as you've made), or you howl at the suggestions.

New Discovery: NASA Studies Proves Carbon Dioxide Cools Atmosphere

A recent NASA report throws the space agency into conflict with its climatologists after new NASA measurements prove that carbon dioxide acts as a coolant in Earth's atmosphere.

NASA's Langley Research Center has collated data proving that “greenhouse gases” actually block up to 95 percent of harmful solar rays from reaching our planet, thus reducing the heating impact of the sun. The data was collected by Sounding of the Atmosphere using Broadband Emission Radiometry, (or SABER). SABER monitors infrared emissions from Earth’s upper atmosphere, in particular from carbon dioxide (CO2) and nitric oxide (NO), two substances thought to be playing a key role in the energy balance of air above our planet’s surface.
