Such was the gist of some reports available over here. The devices would have been abandoned - a lowly garbage collector could have removed the devices - as many of crowd gathering events usually employ to keep the place tidy... After the event many SDI & Homeland security personnel were evident in cell-phone etc footage posted by many of the media sources... What were they doing beforehand:?:... GET OFF YOUR HIGH HORSE... Security in this sort of event is low-level and unobtrusive, and was not done... WAKE UP and do something useful...

Damning the authorities for not being 100% effective at stopping random acts of terrorism? I don't think I'm the one riding a high horse here....

You're pretty typical of anti-authoritarian folks, in my opinion. You whine and cry about the government usurping power and invading people's lives, then condemn them for failing to monitor everyone in the country 100% of the time, thereby stopping every single act of malfeasance.

Can't have it both ways, dude.....

If you had not noticed I mostly post an aggregation of what I read as links if possible, else in my own words what I have read - - as close as I can without incurring copyright breach exposure. I know security and what should (is usually done). and now I ride off into the distance... since what I wrote was a lot more benign and polite in tone to other stuff I had read - written by your compatriots and good citizens of USA... That which is grossly insulting to the delicate feelings is not shared as indignant trolls expressing blame on the messenger is not my objective, but sharing what may be useful and helpful is my objective - with the occasional disgust vented at stupidity. sadly stupidity seems attractive to the stupid - others are more inclined to let it slide to the keeper (to use a cricketing term - may work for baseball too) :?:

Massie, the thing that perturbed me has kept me up all night digging. There's a lot of BS, but I found enough gems mixed in to make the broad premise stand up. It's not as though we didn't know the scoundrels were up to something dodgy, it's just the confirmation of the extent that floors me. 1919 was a big year. The Little Digger, Billy Hughes was an important man. So was Chief Justice Latham, especially his subtle hint in 1942 about false laws being invalid.

Boston was a tragedy, but no random act. It is highly political and nothing is ever random or accidental in that game. What new shackles will you seppos get given now?

Not sure whether I'll ever get back to sea, now, or whether it's worth it if I do. The realisation that one can handily be disappeared at sea with nobody the wiser, suggests better use of resource and opportunity would be to stay in the world.

One traders maxim ---> Market action makes news.

It is very rarely the other way around yet it is always reported that way... without fail! I once saw a 2% odd rally on the DOW reported as being due to the rescue of some miners. It was a slow news days aside from that happy event. Now as good as that was..... WTF??!!! ..... talk about brainless media contrived for a largely brainless audience ---> WOW!

Another useful one is ---> Lose your opinion or lose your money.

Goldbugs need to keep that one in mind, markets cut both ways and always!

GATA lose sight of that one most of the time.

    Oh happy days... :D

    Hi micah,
I am not really in to history and the names you mention are long gone. Australia has had a confusing history discovered by the Portuguese, French, British and many other great adventurers around the time of Columbus, but the pommy claim seemed to stick and they conveniently used this place to store their many, many jailed criminals... Who we are is still evolving... many feel devolving as we seem slavishly follow the worst aspects of "big brother" - USA...

Gather yourself a list of bloggers that seem to "get it right" more often than not and as they gain in the number of followers and advertising they may be subverted by the advertising or other revenue and devolve into talking heads. Some manage to keep their integrity.

Currently, GATA, Doug Casey & associates, John Williams Shadow Stats (USA only stuff),Daily Reckoning is in Eu, USA, and Australia and all fairly independent but share essays, Gerald Celente, Bix Weir, Andrew Maguire, King World News, Stefan Molyneux and thence http://www.abc.net.au/tv/channels/abcnews24.htm seems to cover activity as per "talking heads" and gradually you will gather a list of useful news sources that please your general interests on the GEC which is an ongoing doomsday scenario that will continue for between 1month and 20years depending on how well the politicians and others manage to "kick the can of denial down the road"...

As Moggy suggested many players have lost their moral compass, - and many other ethically expected traits are also sadly lacking in all too many "authority figures" I won't comment on possibly USA and European "shackles" but Gerald Celente and a couple of other USA based commentators have declared that USA is now defined as a "Fascist State" - whatever that may mean now ?... and Europe seems destined for long term economic disaster as things collapse as per Cyprus...

Whilst I was considering what was the most appropriate design I would look carefully at all boat adverts, continue with crewing, deliveries, racing, and visiting marinas with a careful eye as to what boat I would steal in the event of an impending local disaster? Failed to be around when an appropriate disaster struck. I used that knowledge and experience to appreciate the benefits of a cat 40 ft seems the ideal for live aboard global cruising - - too beamy for marinas (costwise) but the shallow draft means that most creeks afford good shelter. - Build cost was a killer and since commencing my build some 4 years ago find that reseller prices have collapsed so be ready to "buy" or "borrow" - A 'warram" is not the style I would go for, - but a chine hulled ply with grp inside and out to effectively seal the wood, - and a hitch-hiker rig is very close to ideal (except if you love icy waters)... Is that any help?

To be able to go to sea and seek to settle in some remote region seems a good escape plan, - That is briefly what I am planning...

The Barron River is in flood so I cannot get out - back to the powdered milk and the bread is finished... I still have plenty of food as I am also stocking up in dry food for the boat - - rice, soup, powdered milk, flour, sugar , a few baked beans, beetroot and preserved fruit...

I posted this elsewhere, but I thought I would throw it up here...

    In response to a question.

No, without going to far into conspiracy land the reports that I tend to credit are along the line that the events in Cyprus tripped off enough demand for physical metal that certain counter parties are at risk of default. This appears to have been a well thought out and orchestrated response to that threat, not to mention very effective. I have seen no claims of who is demanding how much metal but I would guess that, given the reserve ratio that some of these bullion banks run, it would not take an enormous amount over normal demand to throw a wobble into the system. Gold is not such a big market in the scheme of things. Maybe it is PO'd Russians looking to pull their cards closer to their chest. If true it would certainly seem that it is an unexpected and unintended consequence of actions taken in Cypruss. These things are not normally thought through to the enth degree, look at the trigger Lehman turned out to be.

So the short answer is ---> It looks like someone is in a boat load of trouble!

FWIW, once these lows are done I am feeling very positive about the next one to two years for gold. I have one caveat, you will need to be fleet of foot, I think the the new game will be to foster volatility to such a degree that gold appears to be an unattractive alternate to any conservative investor. If I am correct the next major high, if it occurs, should be mightily impressive, yet the next major correction will be even more terrifying than this

Your FWIW follows closely to the perception I have I would love the cash to acquire a couple of KG of au or ag - but alas sweet FA cash... unless someone buys my boat - still for 6kg au (element 79 on periodic table - - )

The EU forced Cyprus into a gold haircut to pay off its banking debts.

This precedent means that Greece, Italy, Spain, Portugal.....will also need new gold hairdoo's if they request EU banking assistance.

    Gold ...be carefull

Besides...when the global economy augers in and Zombies roam the streets, the most valuable asset for trading will be rolls of toilet paper.

Ive stocked up with several extra 12 packs, just in case

Show me "the popular argument that gold is not volatile".

Seriously.... you are making ***** up again.

Gold has done an exceptional job of "retaining value" over the last decade. Have you checked its compounding rate of capital appreciation? Last time I did the sums it was better than 16%. Not bad when you consider the alternates..... really.

I think that the main complaint is that "the authorities" do just that, have it both ways. Overbearing powers are established and freedom is curtailed on the promise of greater protection yet the protection never really seems that great. As you correctly point out there are somethings you just can't do anything about.... none the less it still doesn't seem to stop them trampling on the innocent while chasing these shadows. Some of the things that go down in the US are down right scary, your police are often well over the top, hell I have even seen a video of the IRS raiding a restaurant in full assault gear armed to the teeth! They broke this guy, they got it wrong as well and they left his life in tatters with not so much as a "by your leave". Man, our guys send a few nasty letters and a couple of guys in gray suits might turn up one day.

    You may have Stockholm syndrome!
