an anonymous donation was made to the Mariner Park Musium in Canada a few years ago. I found this in a search and thought it was an interesting design, rather advanced hull shape for a wood hull. Perhaps someone here can identify it. It is 25 ft long.

Here is the link to the museum web site, if you know what it is contact them:

The stern shape and topsides remind one of Uffa Fox's Atlanta.......I know it's not one of those but perhaps a relation or inspired by......

Waterfowl Hunting boats like round hulls to avoid wave slap and noise.

The wide beam aft ? It wont row well, but it will carry a big cargo. Stick your head in and look for feathers or blood stains. ????

The crash bar astern of the traveler must mean that the rudder needed to be protected. ?

It has a second rudder position on port side. ? Some kind of work was performed over the transom. It even has heavy brass half oval chafe bars aft.

The boat looks 12 ft long ...not 25 ft

the museum web site lists it at 25 ft, I would presume they actually measured it. It looks smaller than that to me to but it might just be perspective. I do not think it is a row boat at all, I zoomed in on it and those fittings that look like oar-locks are actually cleats for a jib sheet. I also noticed the extra set of rudder mounts, perhaps an outboard mount?

Perhaps it was built as part of a rental fleet for tourists? hence the crash bars and heavy rub rails.

    .... read more carefully..

""To me, she looks very much like the ship “Victura”, JFK’s sailboat, a Wianno Senior (25 – foot) "

The old boat pictured is not 25 ft.....in relation to the 7 or 8 foot oars in the cockpit

The boat pictured has no chainplates , so it was baldheaded, free standing.

    Perhaps rigged like a catboat.

I'm wondering if they have the caption on the right picture.... even leaving aside the size differential, that boat looks nothing like a Wianno Senior to me (see attached photo).

I agree with Michael that it had a freestanding rig, with a baldheaded gaff or maybe a spritsail.... and it probably got rowed a lot.

Lovely little boat whatever it is, Petros. Thanks for posting it.

yes, I figured it had a cantilevered mast since there appears no chain plates. I wonder if it has any rigging with it.

Yes, I did not quite get the reference. looks like it might be in the 15 ft length than?

That is not the museum's web site. It is a web site of "Birdie, the Island Ambler" ( http://theislandambler.com/about-the-ambler/ ) who appears to have visited the museum, taken some photos and then created a web page about the museum. So I would not assume that anyone at the museum believes that the boat in the photo is a Wianno Senior (which it clearly is not) nor that it is 25 feet long.

The current web site for the Mariners Park Museum appears to be http://www.pecounty.on.ca/government/rec_parks_culture/rec_culture/museums/mariners.php Not much information.

I'll send a note to friend who is a boatbuilder in the general area and see if he can identify it.

Response from my friend about the mystery boat:
I’ve seen this boat before- …. Can’t remember where- it uses to be a Greavette Streamliner then converted to sail…

Hmm...guess this guy building a Greavette is one foot tall. Must be hard to find one foot boatbuilders. Perhaps he is genetically modified

The Greavette has a straight run aft and hard chine , not a round chine like the skiff.

The skiff is small, lightly built...not 25ft and capable of a powerplant

Mike, who provided the information I quoted, said he'd ask some friends to see if someone had more information. I'll pass it along if I hear anything else.

Not a Greavette Streamliner either, close but no cigar:
