Cruise ship fires (12+ fires in last 2 years)

Wonder what is causing this trend of cruise ship engine fires? The investigative reporter below reports there have been over 12 fires in the last two years.

Has anyone found a common thread? Is there a particular ship or engine that is prone to these fires? Just curious is anyone has looked into this.

I recall my days in the military sailing aboard a big steel hunk of a ship. All hands were trained in fire fighting. This is obviously not so with these cruise ships. A small crew must tend to both the ship & people's needs.

If anyone has experience these cruise ships or their engines do chime in.

 

Small crew? There are over 1,100 crew on this carnival cruise ship.

I think the problem is the amount of the ship focused on passenger carrying and not on safety ....

IMHO.

 

There just too dam flammable that's all.

More CO2, less O2.
