This trimaran posted at the very beginning looks very fast and offers
    23 accomodations:
    the avatar
I dream of many accomodations just because I'm part of a huge international family, about 30 people!!! Not the usual mama papa and sons ...
Maybe this avatar offers confort in the amas only at the anchor,
    as many mentioned before.
And again thanks for the many suggestions
    ciao

I suggest you send 100K € to Nigel Irens with a statement of requirements. He'll give you an excellent design meeting your stated requirements and a list of builders who would build a quality boat in accordance with the design and your budget.

I have to apologize to you all,
    I'm sorry,
I must have done something wrong or use this forum in an unusual incorrect way.
I'm not looking for free designs here, I was just trying to get some idea in which direction to go.
anyway thank you for all the ideas you gave

I dont remember eiasu asking for a free design. Researching what design fit my needs took me a while. Catamaran -v- trimaran was the first question that needed to be answered, and Richard Wood was nice enough to take time to email me more than once. I think there would be any number of designers thet would help redesign the interior of an already designed boat that large. Keep asking questions esasu untill no one answers. Rick

    Rick thank yoou very much,
    so I go on!!! ;)
Even though the specific question is now answered,
accomodation in the ama are mostly non suggested,
to have perfrormance, confort and huge space either a design like the 71' kurt hughes or a catamaran
to evaluate the seaworthiness of the Horstman design I can only sail one
    any comments are still welcome
    ciao thank you all

Piver did some truly huge trimarans too but nobody ever accused them of being high performance. In the large sizes the ama is a hallway with a head, the bunks are in the wings. They worked for the big Horstman's, Cross' and Nicol tris but they all had moderate beam. On the big wide performance/racing tris everybody has trouble sleeping under way. However many hulls a boat has the length/displacement ratio and sail area/displacement ratio will give the best ideas of performance. Compare those numbers with tris, cats and monos along with recorded performance and you'll start getting an idea of what it takes to reach the different levels of speed.

A large cat is your answer- with a large family on board, doing crazy racing speeds isn't an option! It will give you more than enough room, have a decent deckhouse and accommodations in the "ama's". What you have to consider, is how often are all 30 odd going to be sailing? Pointless to design for an occasional sail. Are all 30 going to neon board for extended periods? For ocean crossings? Or once in a while - in which case, have the space available but not permanent. Back to your SOR- statement of requirements.
How will the boat be used. In what conditions and under what circumstances?
Big boats cost big money. To build. To maintain. To moor. Etc etc.......

    Thank you cavalier,
that's enlighten me about the different caracteristic and beam of the
trimaran performance oriented and the ones which offer more confortable accomodations.
That's why the Tristar80 has such a moderate beam compared to his lenght.

Just to have an idea a collected some data from internet,
it is not at all a apple to apple comparison, but just to have an idea.
From the numbers I doubt that the tristar80 will ever move without using engines !!!

    Length / Displacement (m/ton)
    Kurt Hughes trimaran 71 1,06
    Chris White Hammerhead 54 2,13
    Ed Horstmann Tri-Star 80 0,43
    Gunboat 78 0,83
    Atlantic 57 1,45
    Wharram Pahi 63 2,40
    Lagoon 620 0,59
    Matrix Silouetthe 760 0,58

Sail Area / Displacement (sqm / ton)
    Kurt Hughes trimaran 71 8,35
    Chris White Hammerhead 54 16,27
    Ed Horstmann Tri-Star 80 4,33
    Gunboat 78 10,69
    Atlantic 57 10,98
    Wharram Pahi 63 16,25
    Lagoon 620 5,80
    Matrix Silouetthe 760 11,65

    Thank you Alex,
    About our SOR:
    mainly will be 12 people,
but sometime 30 or also 40 for periods of one week
yes unusual requirements, I know, 9/10 double cabins and the rest
somewhere else sleeping in tents or in the pilothouse
galley confortable and huge like a gourmet restourant, space for baking etc
very big saloon about 6 x 10 meters for multipourpose use: exibitions etc.
The use of the boat: less use possible of the engines,
what I mean with good performance mainly means that is able to sail also
with light winds and is able to tack in a reasonable angle with sails (90°?)
long period of sailing without mooring,
sailing mainly in the mediterranean sea (often short waves )
The attraction of the trimaran is not so much for the performance,
    but for space and motion.
I'm looking for a floating sailing 250 square meters!

    thank you very much,
    ciao

    Figures don't seem to compute.

Would add that the hughes sail plan was a specific conservative sail plan request that is shown on his web site and can carry considerably more sail for light conditions performance and extra reefs in a larger main and / or additional inner forestay are options to consider.
