Wife goes to govt TV cable office to renew fee for working foreign cable service to boat.

    1. Fee paid

    2. Five english language channels no signal

    3. Call Govt office - instructed to wait 30min to allow for reset

    4. 2 hrs later no change

    5. Call office & after 15min discussion staff agrees to reset our service

    6. 30mins all services return

    7. Next day 7 channels not working

    8. Call govt office - suggest they again reset computer on our service. No... its not them its my TV.
My reply BS, reset your system to our service. Govt office worker response No... we send technication to check your TV, problem your equipment

    9. I wonder what my sentence will be for punching TV tech and throwing him over the side

Not all Chinese are illogical, and Chinese leaders prove it by their incredible financial accumen turning their political salaries of US$30K by clever investment into hundred million dollar fortunes in 8yr period

"In June, Bloomberg News reported that Xi's extended family has amassed assets totaling $376 million, though it said none was traced to Xi. The government has blocked access to Bloomberg's website since then."

"In October, The New York Times reported that Premier Wen Jiabao's relatives had amassed $2.7 billion since he rose to national office in 2002. Access to the Times' Chinese-language site has been blocked since then."

They can afford to have someone wait for the cable guy "tomorrow between 8 and 5" :)

Do you have room for a satellite tv receiver?

Do you have Internet on the boat? Can you do Internet TV such as netflex/hulu/etc. instead of cable?

The vessel has internet but china broadband is slow plus we now have continuing cyber attacks and increased IT interference from central govt. blocking foreign sites and offshore servers.

Unfortunately there is nothing nice about China

Country is a tip, polluted, corrupt, the foods polluted with chemicals, cheating is main stream business culture, and dishonety accepted as everyday normal.

I'm relocating (permently) for new company projects in two months.
