As I've said before, I like tuna clippers, and I detect a hint of tuna clipper in this one.

 

Phillipe Starck has been paid only 6 million euros of his 9 million euro commission for designing Venus. The yacht has been impounded in Amsterdam as a result.

$6M is not enough for that end result?

Seriously, won't be easy for the designer to get all of the money he claims, imo. The lawyers say he had a friendly relationship with the person who has commissioned the design, and not every aspect was defined through the contract.
In addition, we could see that the yacht was not well-accepted by the general public, so Job's familiars are now probably asking themselves what is her actual resale value. And they will blame it on the designer, should they find out it's below their expectations...

However, this is applicable for every boat. The greater the lever the more influence there is on seakeeping.

 

As an alternative to a Phillippe Stark collaborative design (never a yachtsman's designer) for a yacht I personally would like to see the results of a Pagani collaboration.
That could be either a very interesting yacht or the first LRPB to make 100knots

 

Any estimates on what the cost of the naval architecture work was? I assume there was a naval architecture firm involved in addition to the "designer".

A boat of this size, for 'naval architecture' isn't really much, about 50-100hours at most.

The details, from the naval architecture: mechanical, electrical, structural, outfitting etc, in production drawings, and detail 'design', is where the hours go. For this 'size'/type would be circa 15,000hours.

So long as the boats satisfies rules/reg's, if the client wants it pink and fluffy and made from Switz cheese, then that's what they get.

Taste doesn't come into it. Since it's very clear...money can't buy taste

 

If the yachting world got lucky maybe the Netherlands will kept the Venus in Amsterdam and convert it to a canal resturant or libruary or IT office complex for next generation apple nerd iventors
