    SAE........

My boat Ratty is a modified (different hull form) takeoff from the original Drascombe, size is between the Lugger and the Longboat at 20' LOA.......anyway we have an outboard kickup rudder which is very handy when coming into a beach or going over shallows.......

I know this is an old thread, but I found the Cralya 630 sailboat and I liked. Has anybody build it? Some photos? The site is not very accurate for the materias you need. Thanks.

Two Russians on K800 are sailing around the World; this is version of boat with bulbkeel. (NOTE: the boat is not originally designed for such voyages). They are likely to arrive in Capetown around December 20.

    Hi Alik,
I will be looking out for their arrival then, so I can see the boat in person ! If you have any further contact with them (once they have landed) could you let me know which small craft harbour they have chosen. There are quite a few within 200km along the Cape Town coastline, from Saldanha Bay to Gordons Bay, and looking for them could take a few days without knowing where they are moored.

Steve, can You recommend the best harbour to stop by, for low-budget?
The guy is on boat alone!

    Hi Alik,
see the website for Saldanha Bay Yacht Club here :

    http://www.sbyc.co.za/about-us/facilities/

First 10 days free, then he's in for around $8 a day anchor fees and $2.50 per day per person to use the clubhouse, showers etc.

From their website, their position :

Saldanha Bay Yacht Club is located in a sheltered area of Smitswinkelbaai Saldanha Bay at 33°01.080′S and 17°56.000′E.

Their contact details are on the website, you would need to replace (022) with the international dialling code for South Africa +22. I think it's 0922.

I'm not sure about customs clearing etc, but I suppose once he's arrived he can find all that out from the office.

If he's arriving today or tomorrow, he will be heavily reefed and beating into 35knot SE with 6m swell, so he will be happy to arrive on land I'm sure.

    Regards,
    Steve

If one ever wanted to understand how boats' weight so often exceed their design values, the second picture is a perfect case-study example. ;)

Not really. First, by design, this boat features sightly submersed transom. Second, this boat is loaded for serious passage.

I always wonder someone setting diagnosis by the photo. Meanwhile, the photo You reference shows repair made on the transom - look carefully.

Here these boats are pictured coming after inshore race (this is how K800 is designed to be used), evidently not overloaded or 'stern heavy' (white boat on the image) http://albatrossdesign.livejournal.com/pics/catalog/503/6774
