This is one good looking boat:

Can't say much about that aft quarter view- but isn't that the proof of mastery: damn thing will look good from all angles?
So they got it nearly right- pull some points for the view from the rear..

Well I can't tell from a few pictures.

I'd have to be invited out for the weekend to form an opinion of what I thought of the thing.

For my money the design and overall style bring many things to mind but a yacht/boat isn't one of them.

As a contruction concept the effect is pleasing for the clean lines, as a boat...

It looks like Frank Lloyd Wright's attempt at naval architecture ---

So it's a scaled up version of one of Phil Bolger's riverboats? or super-long-micro maybe?
See it in "Build the New Instant Superyatchs" by HH Payson :D

I find the elements to be very traditional. The lines resonate with known esthetic traditions for me.
Yes it is a boat and perhaps the elements are more broadly found in nature and the architectural emulation but I won't call foul on this point.
Many design elements find their way into other boats which create messes sour to the eye as designers strive for the modern look.

Try to imagine the boats we will be stuck with in a hundred years.
The Jobs yacht will be lauded as beautiful in its stark simplicity. I believe it has to be viewed in knowledge of a design evolution in naval architecture which has not yet occurred.

Just wondering, who chose the name 'Venus'?

I would have expected it to be called something like 'iFloat' or 'iCruise' or maybe even 'iiCaptn'

I don't see it being an evolutionary design at all.

The axe blade bow reminiscent of pre WW1 British Jutland battleships (and now fashionable with crew boats CAT & mono hull).
The long floating upper deck reminiscent of the upper deck of late 1800s gentlemans steam yachts
The aft view resembles WW2 concrete cassions prepared for D Day crossings.

Phillippe Stark's boat designs are'nt original it's his ability to assemble a collage of existing design elements into a ensemble that sets him aside from other designers
