I dont know what you are worried about. The Mozambique or Agulhas current will take you to the South Indian current, which will then take you to the Western Australian current, where you will be picked up by the aussie navy and taken to Christmas Island with all the other refugees. They will then fly you home for free

You mean she'll love getting you back?

If instead you mean she'd love the free ride home for herself, she might not love it so much when she realizes how many nautical miles she'd have to share that small boat with you to get it.....

 

I forgot to mention that they will burn his boat before the return flight, but by then I am sure he wont mind a bit.

 

I hate to say this in public - but I love my boat
much easier to get "crew" than to build another boat
at my age the boat is number one

and even with a free flight home the missus wont come along
the reality is that I choose well when I decided to build a trailer-sailer
99% of the "palaces" that float around that cater for women stand empty

so I still advise anybody that wants to build a boat - be 100% selfish and build and design the boat around you and yourself alone - because if you enjoy getting out there chances are 90% that you will be doing it alone anyway

 

Words of wisdom indeed. I remember vividly chatting to a guy hosing down his 65ft motor cruiser, resplendent in pristine white gloss paint, tinted windows, teak decks and stainless steel.

"Great boat " I said "I bet you have been a few places in that"

"Oh yes" he replied "We have been up the east coast of Australia to the tropics, and cruised around the coast up there."

"Fantastic" I responded "Whats the next big trip you have planned ?"

"Oh, I dunno " he said forlornly "The missus has refused to set foot on the boat since that trip two years ago. She was so sick and bored .."

 

Yeah... my wife basically believes that if God had wanted her out on the water, he wouldn't have given her enough good sense to stay on dry land instead.

But surprisingly enough, she seems to be interested in the riverboat PAR drew for me -- as evidenced by her strong suggestion that if I expected her to spend any time on it, it better have a bleeping shower.

I think it appeals to her largely as a work of art. She's been playing around with color combinations inside and out, deciding what to put on the windows, etc.

 

My wife just bought a new car because she liked the colour of the blue paint, and it "had a nice smiley face"

 

The problem with the women is complex, but there are a couple of simple basics that stand out at marinas and yacht clubs. They enjoy the first trip up to a point, but they are not water / boat lovers and get bored on the second trip. We as skippers / captains are busy navigating and monitoring the smells and sounds of our boat, because we are aware of the hidden dangers and potential disasters that can turn very ugly very quickly. They are passengers so not actively involved. I have tried many times to get them interested but it is like explaining science to somebody that will never be interested at all.
I have often seen the women very interested in the building process, because they can choose the new curtains and duvets and have a say in the colour scheme. They have a lot to say about the heads and want hot showers and electric toilets BUT once the boat hits the water it is still just a boat and it is still only on the water.
That is when 90% of men end up with this

Then you get the other type of woman that is best described as the "socialite" or party girl. These women are fun to have around when everybody is drunk in the harbor, their husbands are also party animals so its fun all round, drinking and partying MOORED TO THE JETTY. Please believe me I personally have done it many times and I have also had my hand on the strange boob but for crying out loud I cant do that EVERY TIME I go to the water.

On my last trip they all loved to hear about the beautiful nature, the absolute peace and tranquility, and a zillion stars at night. When I said why dont you guys bring your boats and come along next time, there were dozens muffled reasons for not wanting to go.

So bottom line is very few women at the water, and those that are there can mostly be found in the harbour sipping G&T on the deck.

This is good news for me, because if I want solitude I just go out, if I feel like talking silly and hearing the same lame jokes over and over, easy, back to the harbor.

I love my wife to bits, because she always greets me with a smile when I leave and is very happy to see me back, she evens pretends to enjoy the videos and photos that took of the trip
Once every six months or so she actually takes a 2 minute intensive look at the boat and gives me that same smile as my mother did and says "it lovely"

Thank goodness that I absolutely enjoy my long long trips in my tiny box.
My rudders and tiller is almost done THEN my raymarine ST1000. The modifications to the bimini is complete and I also made a mini-bimini over the hatch. Will post pics next week.

Be carefull when you build that "ship" its a ***** to handle on your own

I don't understand how TV works either but I still watch it.
