Absolutely correct , you HAVE obviously been in this situation your feelings are right but you put them better than I did. Yes feeling like God is correct a horrible feeling. And yes yes on the am I dong the right thing by encouraging them.

You have to have experienced this to understand what this is about and I feel not many affluent American will do . I am prepared to accept that.

The feeling of God is so true" why her not him" spot on.

But I will never give to so called professional charities,-- Im not paying for Mugabe's Mercedes

OK, I just realized who you are. You're the argumentive guy in Japan, who spent a ridiculous amount of time carrying on about what you claimed were my unstated but implicit value judgments concerning whether butter is 'good' or 'bad'...

Had I made the connection sooner, I wouldn't have bothered answering you -- because your objective in this thread, as in others, is apparently to muddy the waters instead of clarifying them.

I refuse to waste any more time bandying useless words with you. Excuse me for temporarily mistaking you for someone who was trying to make sense, instead of someone who argues simply for the sake of arguing....

You will be on ignore for --say--3 weeks thats all.

I always find it amuzing why one would come here for conversation then put people on ignore ha ha.

No intimidation:D or anger was intended in this post:D

I guess wealth is a relative concept. I don't have much money and I do have to check the price of everything I buy, even a meal in the restaurant. This year, due to the general economic situation all around, I won't be able to visit some places I've planned to go this year because I need to avoid my budget going into the red zone.

But, Every other night I get invited by this loud bunch of good friends of mine, to join them for some great time together. We don't need much to have a great fun. A pair of good shoes for long walks around the mountains and in the woods, a warm home with enough seats offered alternatively by each one of us, a good beer or sometimes a glass of wine, good music, good mood.

I have my family, sisters and old parents, who care about how I'm doing and I care for them.

I have a girlfriend who loves me and keeps reminding me of that, and whom I love too.

I have an interesting job which, although not running brilliantly from the economic point of view in these hard times, never gets into the boredom and routine and allows me to grow professionally with each new task.

I have an inner irrepressible curiosity which just won't let me stop reading and watching around and talking to the people and learning, learning, learning... Not one single day has passed that I remember, in which I didn't learn new stuff and concepts. I am 40 and still feel like a little child in that respect. I am growing intellectually on a daily basis and feel extremely happy and gratified by that.

I have been taught to distinguish between the good and the evil, just and unjust, between human and inhumane, honest and dishonest, and to always endorse the former and refuse the latter ones. I am listening to my heart in everything I do, and have that peaceful inner feeling that I am living on the bright side of the road. And will always do, no matter what.
A little episode from the past. Many years ago, during the period of Balkan wars, I've been offered a big money, I mean BIG BIG money, by the owner of a company involved in international procurement of military equipment and weapons. I was asked if I would do the mid-person between his company and representatives of some of the factions in war. They had an urgency and I was a guy coming from that geographic area, knowing some persons who knew other persons, and I needed a job. I refused without thinking twice. It was a dark road with no sun above, not my road. And I've never regretted that decision.

Next, apart a slight back pain (which is the price I have to pay to the job which makes my living), I am healthy and physically fit. Can still walk, swim and bike for hours.

I could add many other things to the list, but the time for writing is shrinking...

At the end, when I sum up the things I don't have (money) and the things I do have (all the rest), I can say that I feel really rich. In some aspects probably richer than many other persons with much more money on their bank accounts.

    Cheers.

See, that’s where your problems begin. You have identified the post as “me” per se, thus, making it a subjective reply rather than a reply that is an objective comment based upon the words written than the person writing them. Once you begin a subjective debate, it is open season. You only have yourself to blame.

And this is your second problem.

You refuse to debate/listen to anyone with a position on a subject that differs from your own. As soon as someone has an opinion that differs from yours, your reaction is the same every time.

Your behaviour to criticism does not lend itself to using forums on the internet. Everyone has opines and can be as subjective as the next person. Web forums are full of: brilliant, mercurial, weird, belligerent, passive, aggressive, cantankerous, kind, magnanimous and so on people/posters. The chances of coming across someone with a view that differs from your own and not afraid to say so, is rather high. Your failure to recognise but more importantly, accept it is the reason why you feel you are being berated or hounded by others. So why is that everyone else’s problem?

I will probably be bashed for this, but to me it looks like Frosty has this problem. Knowing his non-diplomatic and often politically incorrect (I hate that concept) style of saying his opinions, it is possible that he is paying the price of the past exposures. Because I really fail to see big issues with his posts in this thread, apart when he reacted to reactions to his initial post.

I guess that for some reason Frosty's posts have become negatively labeled as "just another Frosty's post" even before anyone reading them, which is a pity. Ok, not that I've seen many boat-related posts by Frosty anyways ;) but that might just be due to the fact that we tend to use different sections of the forum, me being more interested in design and aero/hydrodynamics...

There was an old and wise writer and actor in my country, who once said:
"Labeling a person is one of the easiest things in the world. You just spit on his forehead and stick a label on it".

Perhaps we should all try to put more effort in understanding the other person's lives, thoughts, needs and desires.

    Cheers

Which is precisely how I was able to "get things done" on such a belligerent shopfloor. Putting my own feelings from the abusive rhetoric to one side and just listening and trying to understand their point of view. At the expense of my own. Doesn't take much...except some simple humility and accept the sun may revolve around others, because they said so many times!! :D

Misleading. 400 Kg is 4.6 average Americans.

The average height of an American man aged 20-74 years increased from just over 5'8" in 1960 to 5'9½" in 2002, while the average height of a woman the same age increased from slightly over 5'3" 1960 to 5'4" in 2002.

Meanwhile, the average weight for men aged 20-74 years rose dramatically from 166.3 pounds in 1960 to 191 pounds in 2002, while the average weight for women the same age increased from 140.2 pounds in 1960 to 164.3 pounds in 2002.

191 lb converts to 86.6 Kg

Obesity has become a worldwide problem, though I believe things will change in the near future, as we get closer to the limits of sustainability. But it is undeniable that there are countries which are on average more obese than the others:

Ad Hoc, it looks like sushi is the way to go. ;)

Since both you and Troy has commented on my 400 lb American I should explain. Not much to explain actually but I was referring to a post I made about a singer on The x factor.

Simon Cowel said if you can stand I'lle stand with you, he was 400 lbs and had lost 450 lbs--- that is he was 850lbs thats half a ton.

Thats all it is,--- just connecting with a post I made earlier that I foolishly thought you had read.

That will teach me to try to be clever and write with humour or with a flow ---especially here.

Unfortunately, at least this part of the world, the Japanese have to import their Tuna from the Philippines to continue their love of the stuff. There is not enough in local waters to feed everyone by a huge margin. I think it is something like only 10-20% is locally caught.

The Philippines now has a problem of its own and as such has suspended Tuna fishing for 6 months in an attempt to raise fish stocks.

Maybe they'll have to start using intensive aquaculture for tuna. IIRC, systems have been devised that allow fish farms to be set up using land-based tanks.

As for red meat... vat-grown meat ("Meat without Feet") might be the way to go.

So far unsuccessful. The Japanese don't see it as "natural" or real. It doesn't sell here.

But times will change and they'll be forced to sometime soon.
