now I have a ton of pictures, a bunch of rough estimates, and general info. The stepped design looks like flat bottom on the rear and there is very slight curve on the second half. Do you guys think adding a skeg will help with tracking? I've never ridden a flat bottom hull but I bet on plane becomes unstable. I see there is a skeg under the prop, is this enough? I'm close to beginning this, where do I post this build?

I've already designed and built the boat.. Problem is I had to put it aside until January, I work for a Christmas company and have no time at the moment. It came out pretty nice, it needs a little more body work on the outside. I picked up a gallon of Imron (yellow) and I plan on colorful graphics down the sides. The inside I stained mahogany, it needs a little more fileting then a clear coat. I'll upload some pics sometime..

 

I need some help, in order to design the axle to the prop I need the prop... I'll start with my guess 10x21, it will have to be a surface piercing type. Engine rpm at wot: 7200, net boat weight with me in it: 500lbs. Goal speed 100 at wot. Engine is direct to prop so 1:1 ratio. Stepped flat bottom boat. Let me know if you want anymore info. Which prop would you guys recommend? can anyone recommend a prop professional? I figure I should stick with a brand with the most readily available props as I'm sure my first guess will not be right. I'll attach a picture if I get an answer

 

What's the engine power at that rpm?

Just remember.... it was the french that introduced longtail boats to it`s colonies.

 

Saw a Bond movie a week or so ago with a mini longtail in it, a kid helps Bond with a mech issue..... turns the fuel valve on & gets dumped overboard for his trouble, man with the golden gun!
