Thanks for the info Buttales. This may be a good "Plan B", if the one I'm building with the T-10 prop doesn't work out. It probably wouldn't hurt to have a backup, in case mine decided to attack a rock or something else destructive!

i'm sure what u have will work out, may have to cut down the prop alittle but for those that can't build the sleeve and bushing part or even for those that can, buying a store bought part could be easier and cheaper well maybe not cheaper but this is a gear reduction also. i have 3 fishing buddies that have hobie revolutions that i'm trying to convince that they need a motor too, 2 of them have bad knees and i guess are just waiting to see if i encounter any problems or get it more dialed in with a exhaust that goes down into the water. if i can get them to want one i will have them get the whole brushcutter and try to make one with the small motor and clutch coming in at around 7 or 8 lbs. the hobie drive with stock fins are 6.5 lbs and with the turbo fins are heavier maybe close to 7 lbs. the hobie drive itself is a 5 or 6 hundred dollar part by itself. i see that they make headers for the smaller motors like zenoah but the bolt spacing is 34mm and the honda gx35 seems to have a 31mm bolt spacing.did u and john make your own header? they have rc boat headers made of 7/8 in stainless that are aready bent for return to center but i would need to have the exhaust flange made to fit the honda. if u or john would be interested i could send a couple your way

    Header Exhaust for the GX35

Sorry for the delay Buttales, i got side tracked a bit. I can't speak for John, but I haven't fashioned any kind of header to deflect the exhaust away from the operator. We talked about that briefly. It appears some cowling modifications would need to be made in order to reverse the exhaust direction. If anyone can build one, I'll bet John can do it... he has the skill, and equipment.

Could you give me some details on the ones you are talking about, and the costs? I haven't looked that closely, but could the current muffler be flipped 180 degrees, and some exhaust extension added to it? There again, it would need to exit the cowling through a modified outlet.

I have been following sometime now and finally decided to make one myself. Ordered all the parts and they came in the other day. Started putting it together yesterday and ran into a problem with the seals. I purchased some timken 330385 oil seal and ones i received will not fit into my 3/4 i.d. tube. The seals are 7/8 o.d and 7/16 i.d. These just wont work. Did anybody else have problems with the seals being to big or do you think I got the wrong part.

    Thanks for any help

    Chris

u got the wrong seals if the pipe is 3/4 in id the the seals should be 3/4 in od by the shaft diameter which 7/16 in is huge. 3/8 in shaft is plenty, i'm using 1/4 in shaft in mine. are u using a straight shaft trimmer or bent shaft? mud motor or outboard? small motor 54 mm clutch or larger motor 76mm clutch? i would think a nylon bearing would work, the trimmers have a nylon bearing sleeve that goes in the tube to support the shaft

    Fun

    Hi Hoyt,

Had a great time today on the By Pass Canal in Tampa, Florida. Nice weather except for the wind.

Look forward to our next outing. Still working on your video.;)

We addressed the issue after making the video as he was going back to using the main outboard. My gps was on the fritz so I couldn't clock his speed.

    Speed

    Hi,

My original test a couple of months back with the motor up was about 3.6 MPH. A senior moment led to me not lifting up the motor.:D

It moves you pretty good considering the load. Nice video, Harshana!
