I am looking for a partner or investor for a new shipyard in Thailand-Asia. Our intention is to have a serial production for luxury semi custom-made motor yachts in the size from 70ft. – 120ft with a production output of 3-5 yachts/year. Design and molds for a luxury 85ft. motor yachts are completed with lot of technical details and excellent features. The sale of the yacht will be organized under a strong existing European brand name and their existing sales network. Shipyard land with direct access to the sea is already under our ownership with existing construction drawings for a modern shipyard. Estimated profit per yacht will be between US$ 500,000 to 1,000,000.

If you are not an investor but you have great connection we will pay a commission up to US$ 100,000 after successful mediation.

    Regards
    Mike Peters

You have precluded PM response to your post, I do know an investor who may consider the investment. Send me a PM with contact email address for exchange of information.

I have carried out technical production evaluation and due diligence of several boat builders and yacht production opportunities on behalf the investor.

Where are your premises with access to the sea. You must already have Thai partners.

Land ownership is not possible by foriegners here.

I know of several yards in Thailand with direct access to the water....that's only a minimum problem.

The bigger problem is WHAT you intend to build, and how does it stack up against the competition in Europe. At the present time I imagine there are any number of yards in Europe seeking work. And likely a number around the Med that could do a great job with less headaches than a new startup in Thailand.

And then you must try to built a yacht in Thailand that will meet strick European building codes...not an easy task.

No--he says he is in ownership of such property.

Thai law permits no foriegners can own land unless you have a permitted company owned by Thai 51% 49%

    Ive lived here 23 years.

Why do you have to build with euor regs when in Thailand.

Thailaad has little respect for Euro regs --thats why I live here, I am sick of Euro regs.

I assumed by this sentence that was to be some marketing done to Europe, rather than, or in addition to Asia?

The level of skills here do not exist here to compete with Europe.

Some Euro/ Aussie companies are dong well in Phuket and the work is acceptable after many years.

The rest are trawler builders and literally do not see the need for such quality.

Only in Phuket have they realized that there is money in such workmanship.

There is absolutely no problem. We are doing big and small boats with few builders in Thailand that get certified for CE/RCD.

Yes, the problem starts once someone is building 'piece by piece' without design, or designs himself not being an engineer/naval architect. But this is not our case.

Never heard about any successful boat builders in Phuket. Yes, they have some hobbie boatbuilding business. We have only one builder in Phuket we work with; seems the rest do not need any designs or thy just build sailboats occasionally, thus they are not accounted :)

In terms of quality of workmanship, I can tell You where to go :)

I did not specifically mention builders, fit outs are acceptable.

Ni and To for one. Or Jill and pro at Ratanachi.

Not to mention Scott at precision marine.

Yes, agree on finish/fit out; mainly for refits.
Scott is the guy who builds our design now (but slow!).

I think we can write the post of as BS combined with troll, poster hasn't bothered replying to my offer to put him together with a possible investor - a gent with both serious money and interest in investing in boat production.

Combined lack of response with Frosty's quite correct comments = old proverb 'the are two types of oats, one is before the horse eats, other is oats after horse eats' in this situ it's the latter

Not sure if its a scam or not --he could be very busy and a late reply'er. Some people do take a week or more and think it acceptable as post once was.

Thialand is full of scams though I warn. It is a wonderful life and has very good infastructure leading one to think that it is safe. It is not safe for finance.

There is hardly anything you can do if you were to be cheated, Thais believing in a fool and his money.

They often say never bring more money to Thailand than you can afford to loose.

A true saying for many countries but here more so.

It can be a good place to invest If you have BOI board of investment approval . They can then get you through doors you did'nt know existed.

Sounds similar to Turkey, China, Middle East in fact during the time I was based in UAE/Oman I was constantly amazed by the number of con artists, scamer, theives and liars I came across (super yacht biz) of every nationality.
When I advertized in Dubai for a partner for my charter yacht operation I got more attention from con artists than a dozen hookers could hope for on pay nite at Mt Isa.

One couple in particular, a Turk with Filipina partner recently contacted me in response to another biz opportunity after relocating to Bangkok. They didn't realize I recognized them, I sent their details to BK Police HQ.

Regreatably that same thing has been said of the boatbusiness in general...you might just substitute "the boatbusiness" for the word "Thailand" above...

On the other hand this is not entirely true. I do know of some honest people that have made a good honest dollar in the boat business.

And I myself did pretty good for a number of years in the wholesale distribution business. But we worked our tail off to see that our dealers did as well with our product as they might...besides they were our lifeline.
