What have you done this weekend...?

Went up to Spirit lake with my son and one of his friends. Motor wouldn't start on the newly redone fishing boat...suspect a clogged carburetor. Dislocated knee slipping on dock so spent Saturday late morning/afternoon/night either in the tent or sitting having my son fetch for me. It thunder stormed most of the day and last night. Fish didn't bite worth diddly and I never even got the sailboat off the trailer. Tonight I have to go to work and hopefully be able to do my job gimping around. Don't have the money to go to the doctor or take off any more time from work. An all around crappy weekend...even by my standards.

 

i took the race car to the races,, came in second again. getting everything ready for a trip to mississippi,, think im gonna head down there and find me a house boat to live on.

Took a road trip with my mom last week for her 94th birthday. She loves harbor cruises and going through nautical museums. We explored the Humbolt Maritime Museum in Eureka, California and took a harbor cruise on their 1910 ferry. Thought you guys might be interested in pictures of the ferry and one of the boats at the museum. The boat was carved out of a solid redwood log. The guy at the museum didn't know old it is but his best guess was that it was built sometime in the early 1900's. Enjoy

Liar ! It's not cold, it's bloody freezing ! Even the dogs teeth chatter.

Even if you have boiling hot coffee, the first gulp blisters the mouth, the last bit is an ice cube you spit out.
And clothing... what a bloody nightmare ! By the time you got dressed you are dead tired, and have to rest some. By that time the clothes are wrinkled and you have to change them again. You can only dress up half way to put your shoes on or you cannot bend to reach your feet. This repeats itself all the time with the result we now do what the eskimo's in Canada do - you dress up only once a month. If you wee-wee you have to break the ice off as it comes out or it will push you over backwards. You have to keep the beer in the freezer to keep it from freezing.

 

Read another Higgins novel (The Judas Gate) again this last shitty cold weekend. Seems old Jack is becoming my best friend on these cold days

However, two weekends ago it was not that bad and Manie and I spent the weekend at the Vaal Dam on a 30ft MotorCat (Beachgirl) with his friend to whom that beauty belongs to.
What a lekker jol and booze - a few friends and a nice looking bird popped it on Saturday night with a can of firewater she made and had a blast of a good time.

Here is the recipe of that witches brew the women fed us.

1. Bottle of good Russian Vodka
2. Tin of sweetened condense milk
3. 2 tins of Ideal evaporated milk

Mix the lot in a blender and serve in goblet glass sprinkled with some cinnamon. Taste just like "melkkos". This stuff was so nice I could not stop myself from getting enough

 

At least the first coat of epoxy 'went off'. It will be a day or so in under 15 degree temperatures before its hard enough to sand.

Those skylights were the best thing that got put in with the new roof.

The local team trivia champs needed a chair filled at the last minute. Actually they knew for a week, so I was probably the 23rd person they called. Found the bar. Figured it would be in a strip mall but it turned out to be some new commercial and shopping development and I had to park in a bloody parking garage. Found a spot at the back corner but it was so dark I had to drive back outside to figure out how to lock my truck doors (you might be a redneck if...). Drove back in and the spot was gone but found another one. It wasn't looking too good in the contest until they asked a climbing question. They wanted the eight highest countries on the planet. I wrote them down correctly circa 1985 or so. Unfortunately for us, some things have happened since then. Places I knew only as target sets are now apparently independent countries. No one at the table could identify them as nations either. So I didn't help much. The first five hadn't changed, but the next three had. I came home and spent the evening googling -stan countries. Had fun drank beer met five new people.

In keeping with the thread title, I'm losing sleep. On of my latest designs, a 700 HP class racer hits the water tomorrow, so as most designers, I'm wondering if I missed something in the countless places and variables that crap can hit the fan. Test runs in the morning, likely some WOT blasts for sure. I just hope no one gets hurt and she floats where I told them to paint the boot stripe.

30' LOD, 6' 6" beam and just over a ton. A molded plywood over stringers and ring frames build, she should scoot pretty good.
