I am unsure as to the point you are trying to make ? To defend your position of the bible being taken literally (doubtful by some examples of your attitude/behaviour), or hedging your bets in case there is something valid in the self label as a Christian . . . Or something else altogether...

My point, in case you missed it is the fallacy of taking every word of the bible as being the ABSOLUTE truth. - (so sell your daughter to slavery, or other such rash utterances - and obey the word)... - - Happily I favour the words of Ed.D. Professor Emeritus Kauffman... As a callow youth I knew much of the bible as a good source of words to allay the fears of female proselytisers, in that premarital sex was OK... For every quote favouring a course of action/behaviour, another can be found to counter it...

Or maybe you could sell bras and underwear. You could take a load from Woolworths and tell them they are expensive ones ( they wont know). They might swop some diamonds before they kill you.

Several diamond mines, I think they call the containment area a "kimberlite pipe", here in OZ - not that easy to extract - and besides they can be made in a laboratory I bought a beaut 1 carat for relatively little, (about a tenth the $$$s) compared to the mined variety and it takes an expert to detect as is almost flawless...

No one has figured out how to make gold or silver yet...

I do not need a dried out gourd to keep it stiff or supported...

Busy planning next trip - Cairns and possibly further (around the top to Weipa) - - - If I score a job I will stop there... Not much more to do...

 

They say they can print a US dollar bill perfectly. Wether they can or cant is not the point. The point is which one is real. If you cant tell the difference then neither are, or both are.

I read somewhere that Iran was doing just that and that USA can not do anything about it because they don't know. And if they said that Iran had and still was then the dollar would be worthless overnight.

I live in a town that has exchange shops and bank annexes every 100yds. Sometimes there will be a make shift sign outside 'No 100 dollar bills'. I dont know why.

And you may not know that lower bills carry a different exchange than higher.

Its not as simple as 1 dollar is worth 31.56 baht. I dont know why that is either.

 

When money goes to be laundered, the people who get their money washed, like crisp new clean US$100 pieces of re-used cloth as they are "clean" people.... so sometimes the banks are temporarily out of clean new $100 bills of USA type forgeries that are acceptable in more places than not...

 

Eh? they are buying baht not dollar. They are giving dollar to buy baht. The dollar of different sized notes have different price of baht. The sign means no 100 dollar notes are accepted, not that they dont have any to sell, and besides they rarely sell the dollar anyway, only some sell for exchange,---not many, and you need to order.

Thailand keeps a very tight control over its currency and exchange.

I've been skipping over this thread, because I (correctly) figured it would immediately veer off into TEOTWAWKI themes. Natural disaster prep means having enough on hand at home to survive a few days until we get reconnected to the grid, which is a whole different subject than surviving the downfall of civilization.

To me it means habitually topped-off gas tanks in our vehicles; canned goods and freeze-dried meals in the pantry (including Ramen noodles ); propane for my BBQ grill and a couple of gallons of white gas for my Coleman stove and lantern; lots of batteries for flashlights and electric lanterns; a decent first-aid kit; and a gun or two to discourage determined looters.

To be honest, I have more than a gun or two. I have enough to arm my entire neighborhood. But although my neighbors are generally nice folks, I wouldn't trust most of them not to hurt themselves with a sharpened pair of scissors -- much less a gun. So arming them will most likely never happen....

When it comes to surviving TEOTWAWKI, I'm not impressed by gold. It's a currency, and currencies only operate in a structured economy. If it's post-civilization and I want a duck for dinner from the guy down the street, he isn't going to cough it up for a piece of shiny metal. He'll want to know whether I have a tool he needs, or how many hours I'm willing to spend repairing his duck pen.

 

By exactly the same method that you use. - Attributing others words that I may link in my posts to my views... Hopefully you will learn from this of your 'silliness' in that regard... However I have no issue with any quoted views of others as it suggests that they have read or been read something vaguely intelligent of amusing... but do get someone to interpret what you read...

Funny, that's pretty much the approach I use now, and I have the most comprehensive workshop amongst all my neighbours. I can always do with a hand on something, whereas money is unlikely to get me to work on your toy rather than mine.
