We look at the modern motor car engine and other bits and all this techology stemed from cars on the race track ! all of it !!even body design and body shape .
What is the marine industry missing out on ?? has any of the race technology and design filtered down into the ordinary family boat ?? not a lot !!something is missing some where !!who should we point the finger at ??. the boat designers of ourselves ??they design them and we just accept it ?? how silly is that !!

I disagree, most of the stuff seen on race boats, filters down to the pleasure boat market. Do you really think wing keels would have made it to production craft, if not on Australia II first? Water ballast, canting keels, trim tabs, surface drives, foils of every shape and size, kevlar, carbon, titanium cup holders? Please, you're just not paying attention.

that is cool.i'm working on a cheap surface drive for a modified minimost xl.i think i can build it from a riding mower in the 18 hp range, using the motormount and idler pulley's from the mower deck,a 4 sided belt to get it away from vertical, the mower has elec start, lights, steering wheel and alot of other things i won't have to round up,you can get the alum mud motor props for around 30.00 i'm hoping to come in at around 200.00 for complete boat.what do you think?
