    That's the problem...it doesn't have a heave response....so it stays in the same relation to the still waterline, not the wave crest or troughs. In large waves you can't deballast it enough to clear the crests and still remain stable in the troughs.

    Yes, it is towed to position, but it does have gensets and thrusters for self power and the need to orient itself during the flip.

    Yes, that's the one. Ne engines and, as you can see, there are no propellers either.

    Didn't know that it has thrusters, thanks for that info. For some reason I thought that the orientation is maintained by the sequence of flooding of the water tanks.

    Once its flipped it can be stationary for months with serious accommodation and scientific accompaniment, it will have many gens at least to keep some beer cool with.

    Man can not live by bread alone.

    I did not know it was towed and still not convinced.

    Imagine the free mussel feast when unflipped!!!
