Will $5/gallon gas change the next boat you buy?

Cruising at 9 cents a kwh sounds fine (about $3 a gallon equivalent if my calculator is right) if only electric boats had more umph. We need another milestone in battery tech or another 10 years of innovation.

 

great post frosty. i agree 100 % , i don't like paying high prices but i can live with it if forces progress on alternative fuels. the u.s have a record of wasting fuel and to drop the price and go back to the bad old days is wrong.

 

Where do you think most of the electricity comes from? So-called fossil fuels turn the generators. Wind and solar are crap.

 

...or some really long extension cords.

 

We need to put some limits on our defense spending that has gotten totally out of hand (just as Eisenhower predicted), and put some of that brainpower and money towards our energy problems....alternative fueled vehicles, energy storage, clean coal usage...just to name a few.

If we could make significant inroads to these problems it would give our economy (and that of the world) a HUGH boost.

 

We don't have an energy problem. We have an environmentalist problem. Without a strong defense we will lose our country.

God gave us hydrocarbons and we should use them. I am not an oil shill, by the way.

 

It is also ridiculous to propose that military vehicles or vessels run on bio-diesel too, by the way. That is to stand on the neck of the American taxpayer-serf.

 

According to that philosophy god gave us everything we have on earth. But correct me if I'm wrong, a whole lot of things that were here have disappeared from the earth over a period of time?

WE HAVE AN ENERGY PROBLEM that needs addressing prior to coming up to the very end tipping point that our congress seems intend on doing with most 'difficult subjects' such as raising the debt limit, etc, etc. We haven't had a comprehesive Energy Policy in this country for over 20 years.

Do you really want to wait to search for alternatives until day+ plus a few of running out??

Oil is not a fossil fuel, oil is continuously replenished anew, it is made in the earth from Iron, carbonates, heat, steam under tremendous pressure. Then it slowly migrates upwards to form vast underground 'lakes' of oil.
