Thanks, Geo. I looked up some references on the schooners and found it interesting to say the least.

So what's the scale on those booties?

Looks like they may take an inboard!

Hoyt, look'n good. How do you plan on attaching the deck to your hulls? And, will there be any more framing in the bows? :)

    BTW Hoyt,

In post #132 and #134 the last ‘‘ ) ’’ of the URL is on the wrong side of the ‘‘ ’’ tag. So the links doesn't work properly. Best always test them after posting . .

Click on ‘‘Edit’’ and you'll see, the end of that URL must be ‘‘ (shoe) ’’ and not ‘‘ (shoe) ’’

This happens when this forum automaticly makes links of URL's with an ‘‘ ) ’’ on the end, but it's manual restorable by putting that ‘‘ ) ’’ on the left side of the ‘‘ ’’ tag.

    Good luck !

I can see a problem with the clog boats.

The shape of the hulls will be asymmetric so tend to turn to one side or the other depending on whether they are for the left or right foot.

One solution is to link them with cross beams to form a catamaran to cancel out the forces. ;)

Hmm yes, good point, but they seem to attach large fin keels nowadays so that might help to compensate for the asymmetric hull and keep track on each tack . . . .

    And there is this . . . .

‘‘ After consultation with Hans Terpstra, of the Clog sailing club Wartena, Martin Bekebrede made the first construction drawing. Clog maker Scherjon made a symmetrical Clog and I made the first prototype. After a few changes to the keel and solving construction problems there was a nice DIY kit as the basis for our competitions. ’’

That's what Hoyt probably would do . . . (or is doing ;))

Hey Hoyt, you introduced this sidetrack yourself . . :p

    Cheers,

The deck will be thicker(about 14mm or 9/16") so I can walk on it. It will be attached the same way with the blocks of wood epoxied into the sides along the brim(gunwale) along the bow and screwed down. Then the whole deck will be glassed over and onto the sides for additional strength. The stern will also be decked under the aka/motor mount.

Shoes traditionally did not get made as left and right until recent history(around 1800). Therefore they would have been symmetrical if made in the old tradition.
