Reef explorer I really like this design

 

I've always thought that a submarine if I could build one or buy one would not need to go very deep...maybe 50 or 60 feet...that's all I'd care about...most aquatic life is in the first 50-60 feet anyways...and can be seen very well due to sunlight...beyond that its gets murky anyways....The big thing for me would be to havew windows and a good reliable bulletproff system to purge ballast tanks...battery-driven pumps seem the likeliest way to do this. A good deck you can stand on to launch a dinghy...or fish off of or take a piss off of...etc..while you re-charge your batteries off the generator (when it's not very rough)...seems essential too...ballast tanks could be purged with air pressure tanks that you go go below unless the psi gauge shows what you need to purge and get back up...Also have a good escape hatch...I would actually just find a proven existing design...why re-invent the wheel?...I would like alot of windows though...but those could be added to surplus old mini-sub if your well-to-do enough to buy a sub in the first place I suppose...just my 2 pesos...

 

Underwater sightseeing Boat traditional viewports will be underwater all the time have to use a travel lift to take it out of the water yet compact small enough not to be really expensive to build. This one will be ideal size .

 

Charlie Alpha...your designs and ideas are interesting..I think you are on to something and you should keep going with your experimentation...try to focus on what kind of buyer(s) are logical future customers and design for them. Kits may be another consideration since many who like this kind of stuff are tinkerers...Just be careful so your ideas and painstaking research are not stolen....there are others obviously who may have bigger wallets that may try to steal your hard-won ideas...hopefully they will become your investors...hopefully not your competetion...but everybody in business has competetors...except the Government...

Could you guys imagine this Reef explorer but as a catamaran?? two of them as amas conected by a deck and flybridge?? Why ?more passenger more deck room , It will cost about the same to build one more than two outriggers. An at the same time stick to my idea of say use the bow and stern compartments as ballast tanks to raise and lower the water line below and above the viewing ports as well as to have less draft at the moment to beached the boat or to aproach the ramp to put it in a trailer otherwise will have to put the trailer very deep in the water to get under it. Does this make sence???

Another questions I like the idea of a very large viewing "window". will plexy be save enought?, what do you guys think of using say a very large windshield like from a truck?. or should I just use smaller individual windows?

yep instead of a trimaran with the center hull as underwater observation two side by side conected by a deck but my apologies for the greenies no solar (extremely expensive here the panels and deep cycle batteries the sun still is free yet)will have to be engine powered.

 

Thanks for the note, I am sure I am not inventing nothing new just putting together proven technologies that already exist and currently in use. Innoveting maybe a little . Stealing my ideas hehehe lets say I am opensource they will be doing exactly what I am doing . Everyone is welcome to contribute with ideas I will be more than happy to work shoulder to shoulder with whom ever wants to get involve. If an ivestor wants to pitch in hey!!!! that will really get things going . If someone wants to start making one of the same before I do I only ask to keep me updated with their progress to help me avoid the mistakes and if they need I could be consulting for them. The original ideas are already on paper as a proyect for my personal company here in Venenzuela and properly registered if future claims surface along the way. Once again thanks for the advice.
