I am looking for the services of an experienced user of Freeship to work on designs and also train some other users on the programme.

You should be based in the South West with easy access to Bristol or Somerset

Please get in touch for an informal chat and I will let you know my requirements further.

    Thanks

not in the southwest, maybe later this summer, can do by e-mail but planty good designers around there i guess
although training sounds like a good idea i belive the manuals do that best, read them twice till you know them
(version 2.6 had only 36 pages i recall witch explained all the basics and can be found in a search on this site)
draw with manual next to pc, get the new stuff, keep doing the exercises and presto, soon you see your talent

There is only one problem: average user of Freeship can not DESIGN. He can press the keys and get some lines and numbers.

Capability to DESIGN is not just knowledge of software; it requires much more knowledge beyond software.

If you intend to commercially exploit the Freeship software and to create a consulting firm for Freeship users, I believe it would be fair to first contact Viktor Timoshenko and agree a fee or contribution to be payed to him for providing you with a tool for your business. I might be wrong but I don't think that sort of business was on his mind when he generously created the software and offered it for free to boat design enthusiasts and DIY builders around the world.
    Cheers

I just have a few existing templates to work from and need to adjust these to certain specifications based on variables such as length, engine weight etc - I cannot use the programme and can't risk getting it wrong.

    I disagree.

    1. To be fair, Viktor took over something he probably could not have
created completely from scratch as Martijn did.

    2. Once you place something into the public domain, it is unreasonable to
think you have any control over how it is used, or to expect people to pay
you. You can, at best, hope they might contribute. Nothing more.

Maybe so, but how does one ensure they will be paid for their work?

How do you know the work has been done properly?

How does either party know, they are not getting ripped off in other words...?

It is true. As far as I can recall, there is no legal notice or disclaimer attached to the software, so technically you are perfectly right. I just said that it would be fair to contribute (if the original intent of the OP author is to make money out of the software), for sure not mandatory.
    Cheers

    Hello PI,

Thanks for getting in touch - I have received no PM though to my email account, is it accessible through here? I cannot figure out how to view on here?

Look forward to hearing back from you.

    Thanks

    Hi,

There should be a Welcome box in the top right corner of this screen (if you are logged in). Click where it says Private Messages.

I shall send another this evening, in case the first failed to send.

    Regards.
