You can change the dictionary on-line, but be careful not to inadvertently change the keyboard settings. If the keyboard lacks the 'pound' symbol it is likely a USA layout which miss-spells anyway .....

 

Ha,-- my keys even have Thai symbols on them.

The American dictionary does not even carry Tennerief,-- an island in the East Atlantic off Africa .. I suppose geography never was a ******* thing. Bomb it but not sure where it is!!

Neither does the British version of the Oxford dictionary.

I am led to believe that many place names are not in most regional / language specific dictionaries period.

 

I think im being told that the dictionary did not recognise it because it was spelt incorrectly. Now that makes one ask what is the dictionary for if I need to spell it correctly in the first place.

If I could spell it correctly,--- ( you know what coming don't you) I would not need the damned thing in the first place.

 

I do not know what to say - - except - I use the spelling and grammar checking facilities to add those little squiggly red lines under text that the keyboard miss-spelt. :d

I think 'proper nouns' are not usually covered in dictionaries (names of places people and such), but may be found in 'Gazetteers' - for place-names, and 'Fcuknows' for people and other stuff?

CNO has done quite a few miles - Brisbane to South Percy Island and back and another is in planning, but on a meagre pensioner income (reduced by "deemed wealth") this takes some time to save up for the fuel (I burn 6 litres/hour at 10 knots or half that at 6 knots).

True words Manie, but there are a couple of legs, (Cairns to Samarai is my present concern), where shipping used to be fairly busy and a good lookout is demanded - You do not necessarily hear them coming and they sneak up surprisingly quickly at 20+knots...

Up to the Percy Islands I happily day-tripped, and beyond to Cairns appears to be similarly easy to break into 50 mile runs with quite a bit of flexibility.

A phone call to Monties Marina reveals that there is no space until May 2012. - - So the waiting continues, - - - - - to be able to remove some heavy items and do some work on the aft berths (about 2 half days), and the boat may as well stay on the hard when I find some space. - - I do not need any power as I have adequate in PV panels.

So today I repaired the mower (change the blades and refuel ) mowed a couple of handkerchief patches of lawn, cleaned some stuff with the 'gurney' (actually a cheap K'ARCHER one from Bunnings) and cut some cardboard with the jet too, watered the fruit trees and roses, harvested the eggs and 'fed the chooks' and washed the car (not with the gurney). forecast is rainless until Monday 9 April. when a front wanders up from the cold south. (rather strange for traditional end of summer weather)

Twiddling thumbs also applies to the ongoing fraudulent manipulation of the markets. - 'such is life without a wife and even more so with one'...
