Can blue board be glassed with polyester resin?

    I am assuming you are talking about extruded poly styrene from Home Dumpo or Lowe-st...no. Polyester will melt the styrene into goo. You would have to use epoxy for that.

    There are some polyesters that will work, but you need to special order it.

    I would expect that they would cost close to the same as epoxy so I don't see the benefit.

    i've been able to use poly over styrofoam priming the styrofoam with white glue.
    The vinil based white glue used by carpenters for wood.
    As my foam was white i put some black pigment in the glue so to be able to see any void while painting.
    I also found that it is better to prime with one coat of resin, let it set and then go on with the laminations.

    You can apply a layer of the special polyester, and after cure laminate further with normal polyester. That is the benefit.

    Correct, and the cost is less than epoxy.
