Hey I have a desire to create a boat with an awning that is big enough to hold a a violinist and a harpist while they play.

It must be non-motorized, and be large enough to set out on a lake.

My thoughts are to go out on a private lake for my wedding engagement ceremony and to have a boat that is on the lake that has a few musicians who can play a few operatic pieces of music.

Anyone know any good boat designers who are willing to try to create something luxurious that looks like an Egyptian marvel?

Sure, I can design and build something like that for you. However, it would be better if you enabled emails or PMs.

Contact me by email (click on my name) as I'd be willing to tackle a job like this.

    SirNightingale--

I love this idea---a mix between a Venetian gondola like Mr. E said and an Egyptian felucca. I'm in -- give me a shout and I'll get started before Valentines Day.

Cleopatra's Barge. What will you do with it after the engagement?

Yep, I like the idea too, wish I'd thought of it, but maybe I can be part of it in a small way.

Don't to worry, in the prenuptial agreement he get the bill and the barge, she get the opera singer :p

By the way, where is the lake in question? If it ever existed.

Thank you for your gracious comment. I should hope that I am not the last of the true romantics! I must say, that the diagram for that earthly vessel is one that I hope to have, without great burden.

In golden amber hues, my beloved once said to me, "Remember now, our day of joy and relive it's destiny. For we are young, and in our ephemeral delight, the fire will be well foddered, and keep it's light throughout the night."

But, I'm begetting olden things, and now losing my health, in drinking to my death and cursing at my wealth. Whether t'is a nobile doing, or a stroke of genius, in happenstance to one man. I may well have the cries of Job, and find my wreckless soul n'er abandoned while I'm within God's hands.

why cant you just borrow or rent a pontoon boat and have it elaborately decorated?

I admit the idea sounds fun, but it seems a bit costly for a single event. Unless you have so much money that cost is no object, than never mind me, go for your dream boat!

You can rent some portable work barges, tied the together as big as you need them, then cover them with a rug. They are truckable to the lake.

How big an area you need?

Your girlfriend talks funny. But you punctuate funny, so I can see the basis of the magnetism.
